Help from Cat Owners Frumpy: Hi Everyone, i'm new to this club and I own a cat - he is a neutered male of 12 yrs. He wasn't always with us - he joined my family when he was a bout 9yrs old - so we've not actually trained him or familiarise him with our own ways - in fact like most cats he has actually taught us how to behave - hehe....sounds familiar? my concern is that as he is getting older - he is not so much active - okay I can understand that - at the moment his beautiful eyes seem to collect a lot of brown stuff and if I don't clean them on a daily basis it that stuff would be very sticky - can someone tell me if this is natural or is he having a problem - he is due to visit the vet very shortly and I will ask them too - but I thought someone might be familiar with this sort of thing. cheers Frumpy Kitty: It sounds like it might just have allergies, the same happens my cats from time to time but our vet just told us to keep them clean and that it was nothing to be worried about This site says the same: http://www.blurtit.com/q411172.html MaskOfDionysus: Hmmm, I'm thinking that brown stuff is 'Sleep' lol. Cats don't get rocks coming out of their eyes like we do lmao. If your cat is a neat-freak, like one of my cats, Diva is, you will never see that - she's always grooming herself lol. My concern is my cats' age! They are both in their senior years now, being 18 lol. They are absolutely fine, no problem at the moment but......does anyone know how long my cats can live??? I don't want them to leave me! ...lol Kitty: I remember something from a newspaper here which said some old womans cat died at the age of 37 I hope my cats can hold on that long Frumpy: Wow - thank you guys for your replies - he is cleaning himself but he is beginning to miss a lot of the bits - and as he is also putting on a bit of weight, he's getting more lazy by the day. I heard that some cats live a long life - depending on their life style too of course - the more they sleep the more they preserve their life??? or something like that. As I said before - he is due for a full MOT at the vets next week so I'll ake sure he has everything checked. Frumpy: Well jaspur has passed his MOT and had his annual booster - so nothing wrong with him - I'm beginning to think he really likes his visits to the vets now - as he hasn't make a sound all the way to and from the vets. MaskOfDionysus: Damn, my cat, Diva becomes some other maniacal, evil cat possessed by a demon when i take her to the vet! LMAO Frumpy: I found that if I put him in the box at home and then taking to the car - he gets quite unsettled as he knows it's a visit to the Vets, but if I just pick him up (after I have put his box in the car without him seeing me) and then taking to the car - he is quite relaxed - maybe he associates this to going somewhere to have fun. Maybe you should try this and see what reaction your cats get. Good luck!! Frumpy: I'm really worried about my cat - yesterday i found he has a lump under his skin - can anyone tell me if this is common occurrence in older cats? he is 13 Y/O | Animals Chat Room 3 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
