Is your cat neutered or speyed?

cats cats and more cats
lunalupine: I hope so. We have 41 cats...all from our foster care work in animal welfare. Weve kept many that never got homes..the ones who were timid, had been abused, injured or have ongoing medical issues. Everyone is well and happy now...I love having so many cats. Living amongst this many cats should be experienced by all who love them. Nothing is more peaceful than lying in bed on a cold morning with 20 cats all around you and everyone purring. Turning over is a bit of a process tho..making sure no-one drops off...lol.
I love all animals....all of them are precious...but cats bring me inner peace.
The species is in crises from over breeding tho and for every one cat who is well loved....thousands are abused, neglected &/or put down because there arent enough homes.
Please please - if you love cats - have yours desexed. If you arent part of the solution your are part of the problem.

PTBO52: Funny while posting on this message, my cat jumped up and disconnected the main cord on my computer. Little bugger. Anyway getting back to topic; I think sometimes its lack of knowledge but the cost is a factor too. Here in Ontario it cost $300. for spay and $150. for neuter. That's why I get my cats around 1 1/2 to 2 yrs. They are already altered. Plus everyone wants a kitten and the older cats have a harder time of being adopted.

Stacey81: My big ole' fat cat was a rescue, I got him from the shelter around 6 months old. Not very old but old enough that people were not interested in him. It didnt help that in the shelter he wouldnt eat at all, so he was painfully thin, and the women working there kept telling me he was a bad choice! But as soon as the little monster got into my house he started eating right away! It was like he knew he was home and could relax. Now I have to watch what he eats, because he is almost a fatty. But we did get him neutered right away.

PTBO52: I know I go on and on about Captn' Jack but I would be so lost without him. Living alone he brings such joy to my heart and I love him dearly.

lunalupine: always good to hear happy rescue stories. Yep,once they get past kitten stage so many people dont want them...which is dumb coz older cats are excellent. Weve taken in plenty of adult cats and they all adapt and enjoy their new life. Youre right..they know when theyve finally come home and they relax. It would help if pet shop would be banned from selling kittens (& puppies). They make money out of helping the over population of cats & dogs - that disgusts me..how do they live with themselves. Sure, plenty of kittens get good homes with responsible people who stop them from breeding - but it only takes a few to keep the problem going.
Kudus to you guys for giving a forever home to a non kitten.
