How did you get your cat? Kiwimum: I lost 2 cats quite close together so it took me awhile in even wanting another cat. But when the time came which was in January last year i went to the Cat Protection League and after looking at a few, Thomas found me. ava_california: I have owned many in my life but the last one died and I was without a cat. I decided I would live a cat free life. Then I inherited two. One has vanished but I still have the other one. I should changer her name to Inheritance, but I won't. turtlekitten: Well...in all, I've had about 4 cats altogether. The first one I got as a Christmas present from my parents, grandma and my mom's sister's family. Her name was Nala(my cousin was obsessed with the Lion King at the time) she was a light grey tabby. Sadly, when we got her we found out she was very sick. So...after we had bonded...sadly, we had to put her down. She never even made it to 6 months. The second cat I got is 3 years old now. I got her from a friend of mine when I had been looking for a specific coloured kitten to own...and she told me that she had orange(calico)...but there were no strictly orange kittens at her parents. When I got her I absolutely fell in love with her. She'd be Thumby!(or Thumbelina) The third kitten I got I got from a colleague, at work. He was just ready to leave his mom...and she wanted to find a good place for him. I wanted another cat so Thumby wouldn't be lonely. After about 4 months, I got sick...and was moving back in to my parents place. So sadly, they didn't want me to keep my cats...but they let me keep Thumby. But I had to give Moo(black and white) up. So, I gave him to my brother...who ended up having to give him away because his landlord's son's asthma started acting up because of Moo. So, he's now living with a friend of a friend of my brother's. The fourth kitten I JUST got on Sunday, from another friend(and former coworker). She's SOO adorable. And the youngest and smallest kitten I've ever had. She still drinks milk...but I mix it with a bit of wet food for her. She can eat dry food, but I don't like giving it to her just yet. Cause it's so hard for her to chew still. Her name is Pokey...she's the smallest little ball of fluff, grey and has the prettiest eyes in the world. I absolutely LOVE her. And Thumby just started getting used to her. SweetCdnGirl: i got my first cat from a family friend, the 2nd from a farm and the 3rd from an ad in the local paper freshfriends: my youngest son went camping with his Dad, and came back with a kitten, who had been left for dead in the bush. Missy is our first ever cat, she is beautiful and full of love. So I can honestly say she found us and made our home her home. She was adopted by our dalmatian who also adores her. Cbeta: My dads boss has a friend who adopted the girls (sasha, kira) and she was moving to another city far far away. She couldnt keep them so my dad took them in. We've had them for almost a year and a half. unsolicited: I was at a bonfire with friends. Suddenly two teenagers came with a kitten that they found abandoned. I didn't believe their story, but I knew that this kitten wasn't wanted. So I took her in for the weekend, hoping to hand her over to the local SPCA. It'll be three years in June that she is with me. BTW: you can imagine that she isn't spoiled by "mommy", "daddy" and her "grandparents" LOL. chattypaddy: all my cats or dogs came from the streets or were about to be dumped in the streets. too many strays and unwanted animals out there no need to breed more; spay/neuter your pets don't buy go to your nearest shelter an save a life FelineOverlord: 4 cats came from the street, 1 from a coworker (and before that The Humane Society), and I stole my dog when she was abandoned in the unit next to mine. ak_arctic_rose: We have four, all unwanted, street cats. Gypsy's pure white w/ delicate pink features. Caught her as a kitten, she was alone and starving. Mister, who turned out to be a sister, a neighbor found and brought her to me! She's a rag doll, w/ a bit of simease in her crossed blue eyes, stubborn, a buffoon of sorts. I volunteer at the animal shelter, one day someone brought in 12 kittens (w/ their umbilical cords still on them) and momma cat. Fostered all cats, found 11 kittens home, and kept the last unwanted black kitten, named him shadow and kept his momma too! Cats are the soul of our home! But please, spay/neuter your animals.you couldn't imagine how many glorious cats are 'put down', because they go unwanted. jaydeskye: Prissy was a stray. She arrived five months after my male cat, Dannyboy was hit by a car. Captain Canada: It was a raining day ,I was walking in Chinatown behind a restaurant when I spotted Lucy, she was so skinny so I took her home feed her and after 3 months I took her back to the same restaurant and traded her for lunch special for two Fog Swept Glade: Had to get part of a fence repaired and asked a cousin if he had any kittens. He said he did and in six weeks the kitten was off the teat. So, 65 miles away. He has a southern drawl and he eats braunshweiger. The giant midget: I found this very young kitten waiting for a bus ,in front of my favourite restaurant,it was raining and cold ,I told her to come inside to stay warm ,we chatted, we sat ,we had lunch .
