Welcome to Book Worm Central bratlee05: Hi! This is where you can introduce yourselves and say what types of books you are into. I'll start. My name is Andi and I love reading. I read all different kinds of books, but my favorites thus far are mystery and horror types. My favorite book of all time is Little Women by Lousia May Alcott. I'm amzed my copy hasn't fallen apart yet, I've read it so many times.(LOL) Anyway, the book I'm reading right now is Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks. Lovin' it. He is a great author. Anyway, enough about me... I want to hear about you. lizlo1226: Hi! My name is Liz and reading is my passion. I love to read all sorts of books, but my first choice would be something fiction, based on real life. The last book I read was "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and have read it several times since then. Lots of people think I'm crazy, but I love to smell the inside of a book. Makes me feel like grabbing a blanket and curling up on the couch, just reading all day long. summerblues1969: Hi Andi! I read all the posts and looked at your profile. I also love to read. May I suggest some Sharon McCrumb books when you have time. She Walks These Hills would be my first suggestion. It's an easy read and very compelling. If you want to make a longer comitment, then I would say Wally Lamb. His books are long, but wonderful. I see that you are a student. When I used to drive the long commute to college, I listened to She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Made the drive wonderful! Then I was thrilled when he came out with I Know This Much Is True. Eirene: Has anyone read 'The Sword of Truth' series?

I read just about anything =^..^=

Dudebuddeh: Hi, my name is Keir and yes I've read sword of truth and piles of other fantasy and scifi I live in a veritable library so I couldn't begin to list all the book suggestions I have for you all but I'll tell you this Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series outdoes Terry Goodkins Sword of Truth series in pretty much everyway..... It's the same style but the character development is far better and its not nearly so melodramatic.
CaptainD: hi all im dave love to read my focus is on fantasy and sci-fi right now im reading "Myth" series by Robert Aspirin ive read the wheel of time series as well and find it good enough to read 10 times lol which i admit ive done
ascendant_moon: Hi guys, you can call me Moon, and in general I like scifi/fantasy/horror but read other genres as well including nonfic. I just got done reading The Harlequin in the anita blake vampire hunter series. I know of the Wheel of Time series, but haven't started on that one yet. What do people think the top fantasy series of all time are? And has anyone read The Bitterbynde series? Dudebuddeh: Best fantasy series ever? ooooh hard to say...ummm Alvin Maker, Wheel of Times, Fionavar Tapestry, or possibly deathgate.
(In my humble opinion)
funkychickon: hi mi name is stephanie, i read about 80 % of my time .
my favorite authors are : Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Stephen Booth, Danielle steel (ocanionnaly)
my favorite book was Back Roads by Tawni O'dell....
i find reading is a great way to free your mind of everything that's going on in your life!
i love books that make feel for the protagonist... MissTeatime: Hiya,
just so you know, I´m a major fan of Terry Pratchett. I don´t know how many times I´ve read his books (yup, all of them) but they still make me laugh out loud in public. I also recommend good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchet. Devorna: Hi all i'm Dev.
I love reading I have about five hundred books.
I love Horror and have a week spot for fantasy.
Anything with a wired story makes me love it.
I'd recommed Donna Tarrt's secret history it is amazing. penelope Splash: hello all, i love reading and i devour any and everything by john irving , he is a man that can make you laugh and cry all at once, i would suggest " The world according to garp" for any irving first timers... my favourite books are good omens by T.pratchette and N.gaimen, (really love their books) wuthering heights...lol... catch22 ans so many more... lovergirl89: hey everyone my name's lauren i am addicted to reading. i like to read pretty much everything but i really adore fantasy and murder mysteries. i just recently read ' The Bone Collector' quite a good book. i have just started on 'Killing The Shadows' it's good so far. allyssa2010: hi im allyssa, i just read ''the bride stripped bare'' very intense. i found it interesting that the author chose to stay anonymous (until she was outed) louise1234: i read a lot also. is there anyone in bologna italy, or itay in general who reads english novels. who would like second hand copies for free. i dont keep the books that i read as i would run out of space to live. ive considered giving them to the library but my books usualy get a bit dogged from being carried around.
any suggestions would be welcome.
karla: hi m marga and like everybody, i love to read books. been doing so since i was a kid. my book shelves are filled with magazines, cookbooks, general fiction, how-to-books, autobiographies, and a few classics. i love collecting junk! (lol)

just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. a lot of disappointments (on who got killed) but otherwise still love JK Rowling. wonder if she'll be doing another series. Teddy (son of Tonks and Remus) is orphaned, with only his grandmother to raise him, and he has Harry Potter as his godfather... seems like a setting for a new series...hope it's as good as Harry Potter spiker67: hey my name is mike and i love to read i think the book that i like most would be les miserbles crazychickendk: Hey - I have just enjoyed a good portion of umberto eco's - the name of the rose - for the "x"th time - A challenging book that keeps one occupied on multiple levels - the movie is nothing but a hollow shell compaired to the book and should never have been made since it makes some not touch the book - the ending is known to them and they miss out on a great experience.....

I also enjoyed Michael Marschall Smith's - Spares - a book that grabs your mind and rattles it as if i was a rag-doll - a science fiction piece that is masterly written

I have another series of books i return to every now and then - Henry millers Sexus nexus and plexus - also known as the rosy cruxifiction I-II-III.....they are of an older date - the 50's if i remember correctly and a lot of people seem to discard them because of the syx discribed in them from time to time but those pages could easily be skipped and nothing would be lost - what keeps this series running is the vivid picture of the 30's and Henry's struggle in that world to catch what is his dream and make it turn into reality - writing.....read it even if the s@x especially in the first book tries to scare you off - forget that and focus on gold that is hidden between the other pages...

Kurt Vonneguts "Catch-22" and "Slapstick" are also gems worth reading now and then - especially "Slapstick" has become a dear companion - a piece i sometimes carry with me and find myself reading in at strange places whenever i feel like it

oh I nearly forgot James Clavell's Shogun - a good long series that you do not want to put away for days - when it was turned into a television series it became so popular that the streets in most american towns at the time it was shown every week where deserted since only few people at that time (1984?) had a video-recorder

better stop for now
Cephas:
Good Morning everybody:
My name is Cephas and I have a very eclectic reading pattern. Right now I am reading the original Ben Hur by Lew Wallace. My last book was The Robe by Lloyd Douglas. My thought on that is I've enjoyed the movies when I have seen them on the idiot box,but I wanted to see how different they were from the actual story. So I'm working on novels that have been adapted for the screen. Before The Robe I read Sitka by Louis L'amour and before that I finished Bogart In Search of My Father by Stephan Humphrey Bogart. It was the 4th book I read about Mr. Bogart. When I read a biography I try to read at least 4 seperate books about the person I am interested in. I feel that gives me a fair impression of who the person was. Of course that's not always possible such as the book I read about 6 months ago about Tony Melendez the armless guitarist that played for Pope John Paul the II in Los Angeles in 1987. Most of my books come from the local Salvation Amy thrift stores and what I can't find locally I'll use Amazon.com for a copy or sometimes Ebay. That mainly pertains to when I want to find complementary books to match a biography I already have. I try to read about a book a month, I'm a slow reader. Well, enough for now A reply would be nice, Thank-you. Incidentally has anyone read or heard of an English mystery writer by the name of Dorothy L. Sayers. She wrote her novels in the 20's and 30's. Some have even been made into T-V adaptations by various PBS stations. Adieu, Cephas
| Books Chat Room Similar Conversations |
