Dae: I can list the authors i like. Andre Norton, she has good sci-fiction and fantasy books, sometimes they are mixed. One of the main threads through most of her works is about the old civilization that ruined itself (forerunners) (I created her club, you can visit it for the list of her books). Off course Tolkien. His "Hobbit" is like a fairy tale, "Lord of the ring" is a good-written novel, full of discriptions (but they are easy-readed once) and adventures. "Silmarillion" on my opinion is a special and unique book, which tells about the creation of Middle Earth and some main historical events. You should be prepared for the great number of names though. Ann Mccaffrey's "Pern Chronicles" are good too. Interesting sociaty build on the need to survive. Well written caracters too. "The ship who sang" is her another novel. Interesting and I'd say a bit tragic. Henry Kuttner's stories about Hogben family ("Exit the Professor", "Pile of Trouble", "See You Later", "Cold War" is a good-humoured series about the family of mutants. Harry Harrison is an interesting writer too. "DragonLance" series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman is a rich fantasy world, full of advantures and races. From the russian authors I can recomend Alexander Kazantsev. He has interesting scientific ideas put into his novels. A good written stories with the ideas that push you to think about some unexplained facts from the Earth's history. "Siala Chronicles" (hope i translated correct) by Aleksey Pehov is written nicely and is being read easily. The main idea is abiut the thief who was forced to save his world. Evgeniy Malinin has some nice stories two, not leaking with a light humour. Edmond Hamilton's "Star kings" was one of the first novel's I've read. Albert Valentinov is another soviet author who deserves the attention.
Anyway, thats only my own opinion.

WhiteKnight
WhiteKnight: Hi all, thanks for joining the club and good to see that we have a large and varied knowledge of authors and artists from the fantasy, sci-fi genre. At present i am reading a trilogy by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurts both of the authors are well known and exceptional fantasy writers i there own rites, so the pairing up of them is a good mixture. The Trilogy is Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire and Mistress of the Empire. So far i have found them entertaining and a nice light hearted break from some of the more heavier reading novels that are showing up on the store book shelves these days. I should have finished all three by sunday so will be writing a review of them that day. If you'd like to review a book then please feel free to add it to the new book review section, please give a brief description of what the book is ie a sci-fi or fantasy a list of main characters and backdrop for the setting, also the gist of what the book is about and anything else you'd like to add in, the more info the better. Also an all important 5 Star rating 5 being excellent and one being very very poor lol. have fuun and good reading to all best wishes, Paul.

t_l_c: At the moment my fav authors are writers of fantasy/romance/erotic fiction Laurell K. Hamilton, JR Ward, Angela Knight, etc.

But looking at my bookshelf I have alot of books by Eddings(read his work from a young age and like it now as a light read), Piers Anthony(Incarnations of Immortality), Raymond E, Feist(I've read the Daughter of the Empire trilogy multiple times and our copy of the Magician is falling apart), Robert Jordan(still waiting on his family to finish his last book in The Wheel of Time series). This is just a small sampling of the books we have.

I've spent hundreds of $'s on books and before you say "invest in a library card" I like to buy the books because I love to re-read them over and over again.

WhiteKnight: thanks to Mirabell and TLC for sharing their books they love with us, a lot of those are as you both said absolutely awesome books, my copy of magician fell apart ages ago TLC and have already bought a semi-new one, love the wyrd sisters Mirabell and also Guards Guards, most of the books by Terry P are usually great and also let you have a little giggle when reading. I like to get to know characters in books and follow them on their journeys, it gives you a nice break from reality and also lets you use your imagination. Words of advise to all visit your local charity shops for your books a lot of books get read just once then donated the cost from 5 pence upwards here in the UK and Mirabell I got the complete Trudi Canavan Magicians guild set in hardback for £3.00 at a car boot sale only been read once and in perfect condition, a good bargain. Also Trudi Canavan has brought out another trilogy but will have to check out the titles and trilogy name and typein later as am at work lol. best wishes to all, Paul.
