Kalla
Kalla: I recently just finished reading "The Keep" which is about a Nazi military unit being stationed in the remote mountains of Romania, and where they unknowingly awaken a millennia-old supernatural entity through dessecration that slowly picks them off one at a time in the dead of night and whose only hop[e for fighting such a creature is the assistance of a crippled Jew and his daughter.

Another book I recommend (to everyone I ever talk with) is "The City and the Stars" by Sir Arthur C. Clarke - set millions of years in the future and tells the tale of the last city on Earth and one young inhabitant's quest to break the solitude and fear of the city's creators and venture outside, to re-discover the world and the universe and what drove humanity back onto Earth

GreekAmazon
GreekAmazon: I read Filokalia it consists of 6 book of Orthodox Christian Mysticism from the beggining of christianity till the last centrury. It is actually the writting of the saints of our church. They describe inside how they lived their relationship to God the "Divine Eros" the spiritual warfare and so many other interesting things. Its not easy to read books but very interesting. These books are full of wisdom.

Strongly recommended to the researchers of Truth!!!

soloturtle: Recently finished "The Glory and the Dream" by William Manchester. It's a narrative history of the United States from 1933 through 1973. Very interesting in that it gets one up to speed on the evolution of current events and happenings.
Also, struggling through Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Notes From Underground". Being that it's about a man who hates himself, the people around him and the world at large, I thought I would love it.
And, re-read Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes" and "Tis" because they are moving, funny and flow through one's mouth like liquid chocolate.

soloturtle: The only thing better than books is cheap books! I stopped by a thrift store the other day and picked up "The Notebook" "The Complete Jane Austen" "The World According to Garp" and "The Spoils of Poynton" all for one single solitary dollar.
Read "The Notebook" kind of sappy (I saw the movie a while ago) but it does tug at the heart-strings and although I am jaded and cynical in my old age, I like to read a good love story now and then.
Next up is Poynton....short stories by Henry James. For a quarter it can't be too bad.
