HannahGestalt: the freda warrington vampire trilogy (a taste of blood wine, a dance in blood velvet, the dark blood of poppies) it has a central romance, realistic characters, lots of plotting, excitement, horror, mystycism, everything anyone could want from a vamp book. and if you want something a bit more gory check out brian lumleys necroscope series - plots, horror, government secret units, other worlds, spiritualism, an original perspective on vampirism, you'll never be the same again.
