PendulumX: I'll be the first to post on here, this is a link to a page detailing the 1971 Porsche 917 16-cylinder Prototype, running a Flat-16 32 Valve DOHC 840 BHP @ 8300 RPM (Redlines at 8500) and 6700 cc's of Displacement. http://www.supercars.net/cars/2858.html

katarzenanana: Wow that sunset is a pretty hot little number huh? And its green?! Thats awesome. It drives me crazy that designers dont even consider making supercars more fuel efficient. Regenerative braking and some tweeks to the exhaust and you can charge the batteries while driving and get more power. Anyway, thats awesome! I will take um... 2 of the sunsets please...

PendulumX: I've always had a ton of respect for Audi for opting for a lessened 0-60 and top end performance in exchange for incredible handling and "snap to the road" features, much like Porsche. But then again the 500 horsepower Diesel of That R-8 V12 at the bottom of the previously posted page still makes my tongue wag.

katarzenanana: aww a man after my own heart. I have always been a german car girl That Audi is super hot! I can see why you like it. I have always been partial to diesel too. That Tesla is pretty sexy...

Perhaps I have not really been paying attention lately, but I thought that Hydrogen was terribly inefficient to produce, and that it actually took more energy to create hydrogen fuel than it created... Like I said I may be out of touch. Any thoughts?

PendulumX: Your right, Hydrogen has been a seriously inefficient form of fuel, I think it has mostly to do with the fact that it's a gas and not a liquid like gasoline, it's extremely difficult to seal the entire engine so none of the gas escapes, but this says "hydrogen injection" which could mean that they just inject a small amount of pure hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture, much like nitrous oxide, except much more explosive (meaning more power output). I don't know that for sure since I haven't seen any blue prints or better yet had the opportunity to take one apart (yet).

And yes, the Germans really know how to build a car, I've always been a fan of the Le Man's and Rally Racing, so it's no surprise my top 3 car pick's are all excellent handling, beautifully crafted German cars. Like the Porsche 9f1 (drools) with it's active suspension system that automatically (or manually) alters suspension stiffness, height, and recoil to improve handling in mixed terrain situations (like a pavement to gravel to dirt rally). http://www.supercars.net/cars/4384.html

katarzenanana: Ahh yes the Porsche. I actually had an 86 Porsche 944 at one point. I loved loved loved that car. I actually learned how to maintain alot of things mechanically on that car which was great, it just got to be too costly for me as a poor college kid It was a sad sad day when some man drove off in my little black porsche

PendulumX: Your kidding? The 944 was the "sleeper" Porsche, you could hardly tell it was a Porsche just by looking at it, but once you drove it, or watched it hop off the line you knew. That really sucks that you had to sell it though, out of the 914's 924's 944's and 928's, the 944 Turbo was my favorite, was it factory black? Cause that'd make it even more rare since 3/4 of the 944's sold were red. I gotta ask how much did you sell it for?

katarzenanana: I dont know if it was factory black or not... I am thinking no. I didnt know that it was rare. I was the third owner of it and it had well over 160,000 miles. I think it went for $4000? It has been a while... It was flawless though, even the leather interior was still in good shape.

Sad sad.

PendulumX: Yeah that does suck, and I kind of miss spoke, the car isn't rare, but a factory black version is, it was the 80's everyone though red was the "cool color". 40k is a decent price for it, you could have only gotten more (maybe) from a collector if you could find one that wanted a 944, especially if it was still mint, that really sucks, but an education is worth it. By the time I'm done all of the schooling I'm taking I could have afforded a lambourghini just with the tuition, but the education is much more worth while.

PendulumX: There's an '83 944 customized with 64,000 kilometers on it available in Ontario for 4,000, if your interested in picking it up, no pictures posted though, which screams "snakey deal". You want the 944 S2 anyhow.

katarzenanana: Ohh I would love to get a new car... Ontario may be a little far though for a snakey deal. I wish that I had sold it for 40k, that would have been even better haha. I actually may not have been so sad.

PendulumX: No kidding, turn around and buy a way better one for that price, to be honest you could have gotten 15k for it if it was factory black, vintage car collectors are more likely to want something that's closer to how it came off the assembly line, (like how a car with stock chrome will go for sometimes 50k for more than a car with aftermarket chrome, even though it looks almost identical). Yeah anyways, new wicked car for the day: The Audi R-8 V12 TDI Diesel, there was a different picture of it on an above post but this gives all the specs. Dual overhead cams, twin turbo, 4wd, aluminum space frame, etc etc (drooling) http://www.supercars.net/cars/4009.html

PendulumX: Car of the day : Pagani Zonda F with a Mercedes Benz M180 V-12 powerplant ripping a disturbing 650 BHP at only 4,000 RPM's and Redlining at 7,000 (Benz is so proud of their motor in this unit they left the logo on the engine, unlike most other sub contracting engine producers which opt to remove their logo and put the actual companies logo on it [i.e. Volvo and Porsche]). Watch the second promotional video on the address provided below and you can hear this "thing" run wide open at the top of it's torque/RPM Band, nothing is conventional about this machine, from it's dual plate clutch system to it's aggressive styling, no one is sure whether it should be considered a race car or a space ship. http://www.supercars.net/cars/3111.html

PendulumX: lol yeah, not too many places you can drive it in north america unfortunately... we have laws putting limits on total power, top speed, acceleration (although if they allow crotch rockets on the streets I'm sure the Zonda would be okay for at least acceleration). Not to mention the roads lol, those supercars sit so low you'll bottom out on a speed bump.

PendulumX: Car o' the day : an olde that doesn't get much recognition by itself but the other models of the same car became extremely popular and some are considered collectibles; I'm talking of course about the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible Show Car, it was gorgeous design and albeit similar to man of it's brothers and sisters was not identical, it only made it to it's concept stage; it had single overhead cam's, which was par for back then, 300 hp, 4,639 CC's of displacement in it's V8(327), under door exhaust, and enough chrome to make your eyes melt . http://www.supercars.net/cars/333.html
