Sparky_PG_version: Anything but standardized, American Chinese food. I'd love to try traditional dim sum.

proud2bebrown: I agree...CHINESE FOOD! Definitely 1 of my faves from the mutli-ethnic flavors of countries that I admire. But saying Chinese Food in itself is a loose term. If you were to pin point on the different regions of China, then you would have a discussion here that would spark interest. Guangdong province, back then called Canton....this is where one of my favorite types of Chinese meals comes from: DIM SUM! Then there is Sichuanm the hot and spicy dishes that makes me a chili head addict! But the Chinese foods you see in food courst these days are all Americanized bastardized versions of the real deal. i suggest that you go the off beaten path, and search for hole in the wall places. These establishments have probably been @ the same area for more than 10 years, and if you see a bunch of people inside the restaurant and a line is formed outside 2 -3 blocks long, you'll know you're in for a treat. Good, home style Chinese cooking done in the old country. Can't go wrong with that and the price is affordable.

uglybetty1: Yhere is a lot of truth in what you say.i remember when Chinese food in the Syayes used to taste so good...now it tastes like crap. The fried rice is flavourless and the food simply leaves a lot to be desired........to use your word....it is indeed, all "bastardized".O like authentic foods. I once went to and Indian restaurant and thet ere cooking their food ...with an italin flavour. Had i wanted Italian food,I could very easily have gone to an Italian restaurant!!!!!!!
