What Drives Your Writing? StolenHeart: We are all motivated by something when it comes to writing. What drives you? For me, it's many different things. I tend to be very observant, and am often motivated by situations around me. One little scene or phrase can spark a creative writing session within me. It's also in knowing that someone out there will be touched in some way by it. To me, even if just one person finds help or enjoyment from something I've written, it was worth my time. I also get excited and feel refreshed each time a new issue of my writing magazine shows up in the mailbox. And that drives me to write, thinking of the ultimate goal, publication.The fact that some people tell you it can't be done is another factor. Proving it can is like a feel good hormone. Writing for publication is hard work, as anyone who has struggled through the process can tell you. But if it's your passion, the things that drive you, will continue to motivate you towards success.  M3lK4t: i am constantly bombarded with weird and wonderful ideas so find writing an excellent outlet  montsse: Well I guess I'm just like you. Sometimes I'm just there in one spot and something happens. Other times I guess I want to change the ending of my real story yo know, like there was this time at the University that my boyfriend from back then found a ring, we made a bet that how long it would last or stayed where we found it, of course I lost. The change that I want to made was like he sees that as a sign and then he propose. I don't know, a lot big or small things drive my writing. Kisses  StolenHeart: thanx for all ur responses, I was beginning to think I was talkin to myself here for a long time, lol montsse: Sometimes it's like that, but thinking this way, people look, people don't know what to say, people then do some research, but they forget, later on they remember and they come back, see, you were not talking to yourselve, I was just thinking. How's that? PerpetualDreamer: Writing keeps me sane. I write primarily for myself these days. I have had to face issues with people insulting my writing, or simply me. Writing gives me a sense of accomplishment at times. I hold on to what I can anymore. StolenHeart: That sense of accomplishment is what matters most Dreamer! I have learned not to listen to those who belittle what I do. I am much happier because of it...  Quantum zero: Ive had an interest in writing since I was a teenager. It felt good! Since then Ive wanted to create, I dunno, a world if you want. Show people not what only I can do, but what anyone can do if they want to. Its only lately that Ive actually decided to put any of it down though. Oh well, better than never to have done it at all. StolenHeart: Am I the only one who gets motivated by buying new writing supplies? lol I've started reading 30 Steps to Becoming a Writer and Step one is to stock up. For some reason, purchasing a few notebooks, some folders and pens just gave me a new found motivation. Is that weird? Quantum zero: ive wanted to create a universe that others can see and feel. Lately Ive been calling myself one who likes to build universes. Basicly Ive been inspired for the most part by my friends on Wire, and the beauty of how people whove never met can actually BE real friends. Havent done as much writing as Ive wanted to lately. My creative energy must be lower. But Im still thinking about the next 'Universe' I want to create. Ive wanted to but some writing material, but my fleeting mindand family life doesnt let me hold onto a thought long enough to get to a shop for supplies!  Trying to visualise a notebook for a while now. Well, if one canNOT dream, what CAN we do? SecularSarah: Trying to figure things out usually gets me writing. I spend a lot of time reading, making lists and writing notes which eventually turn up in some form in my writing later on. I don't always have a plan, just an interest in a subject. StolenHeart: I think having an interest in the subject you write about makes it more enjoyable for the reader, because as a writer, your passion tends to flow out through your words. StolenHeart: I think every good writer writes in that manner. I am always thinking...is this something I would want to spend money on. I like to reread my work a couple of times. I have 'thrown out' several pieces simply because after reading it through, it just wasnt as interesting as I thought. I keep everything though, because it will make some good material for something else. montsse: Good idea about the keeping stuff I asked that question just because, I don't write with that in mind, but I guess it makes sense, I will try it next time around  angel: I do writing because a lot of my friends here on wire have asked me to write poems for them.
