John from Salem
John from Salem: I believe that when we all write, we have a purpose in life. It's almost like having a second life. We strive on living our lives, and sometimes we even write about it...so others can read what we may have lived a century or even a month ago. I believe that we always "etch it in stone" and leave none unturned.

I love to write for various and adamant reasons. But mainly, because it is my life...second to none. It's more than a passion. It is my life...an open book...always still unwritten.

qin_bell: poems-usually from heartaches more than inspirations. i guess cause pain hits harder, it has a way of crushing u untill the only thing u can grab onto is a pen. but nature on 2nd thought is my no.1 inspiration-. subtleties between the fogs and the grass, the rain and the rose. i just dnt know y, when i got a full time job, inspiration in writing was lessened.

Boatbuilder
Boatbuilder: The past has motivated me toward creating a mood on paper or in a thought for someone else. As someone older online I have moved beyond my hormones and toward leaving something behind for others to ponder. My life has been filled with mistakes and if I can motivate another toward a better life then it is all good.

Fairy Tale King
Fairy Tale King: I don't write for money in mind nor do I write with the laws of punctuation.
I write for purely selfish reason
I write to discover myself and to hide myself from others, I would deny myself three times before the rooster crows if I was ever confronted by a reader of my writings.
I write for others pleasures. I write to not be discovered.

near50ohoh: i'm saying it's good therapy for me perhaps to dream though... i've always wanted to write as a career but i'd have a hard time turning it over for direction or critism.. it would be like being told my baby was ugly, know what i mean? or watch a newborn being chopped up in front of me. that's how bad it would hurt or offend.. i've left it in my will though. like i said perhaps to dream

jakegittes: Does anyone know of a chat or website or e-mail system where you can converse with real people from other places (specifically "detailed" information about a people and area)? For instance, if I want to write a short story say, based in "Haiti" - I can research many cold facts on the internet. But I'm looking for "a feel" of the area, where it helps to gain "insight" by talking to a (for example) a Haitian or a Greek or a Scandinavian. I write short stories based on "noir" and mystery - where good people get caught up in bad situations and sometimes have to do bad things and where everything is not what "it seems". Do you know what I mean? This is something all writers need.....Thank you.

rainwaterstear: What drives me to write is my passion for music. I have also written short stories, poems and just off the wall lines. I think just looking at the everyday life all around me i can write and not have writers block. Depends on ones motivation.

PhiloSophia
PhiloSophia: What drives my writing?

The need to put my observations about human nature on paper; whether it's through the fictional characters I create, or while writing down what I'm seeing going on in my local part of the world.

Writing is also a venue for me to get my thoughts out of my head. It weighs less when I do that. Ideally, I'd like to be heard, and understood.
