theelkist: Well scary movies are set to your taste and so the answer to the question is kind of open ended...lol

But here is a list of some of the really scary movies...
The Exorcist (1973)
The Exorcist 3 (1990)
Halloween (1978)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
The Vanishing (1988)
Psycho (1960)
The Haunting (1963)
Don't Look Now (1973)
Jaws (1975)
Tourist Trap (1979)
Black Christmas (1975)

These are but a few and there are more to add to this list but like I said the question is open ended. But these movies in there time where and still are some of the scariest movies that i have had the enjoyment to watch.

musky666: bulbul does have a good point, the asians are ( in my oppinion ) making the most inventive horror movies in the world.

i think it is because they have gone back to basics, i love special fx in movies.... but a guy in a rubber suit does not do it for me and too much special fx just stops you from remebering what you are supposed to be scared of.

even Sam Raimi will tell you that the original Grudge was "one of the most frieghtening films he has ever seen" the reason i like the Grudge and other asian and the new europian horror movies, is because it is not about some guy with a ski mask and a chain saw chopping up stupid teens, they are more traditional and use the things that we were all scared of when we were children, like ghosts, i think that it is a breath of fresh air.
just look at how the americans are stealing all the best asian movies and remaking them as if they were the ones that thought about it!

i think that most people dont realise that the asian film industry make thousands of movies, in fact they made more movies than any other country in the 1980's and 1990's, i think that the thai's were the bigest film industry in the world in the 1980's, maybe most of them were about ghosts... but hey they take their ghost very seriously! the most scarey film i have seen in years was a thai movie called 7 DAYS, it was not a horror movie, but it made me want to leave the cinema.

The only thing that lets thai horror movies down is the sound track and some bad editing, like BANGKOK HAUNTED, other than that they are getting as good as the jap horror that is very popular.

anyway here are a few horror movies to check out.

MAREBITO ( same director as the Grudge )

AUDITION ( just for the fact it is Miike Takashi and the part with the feet )kiri kiri kiri

VERSUS ( Ryuhei Kitamura ) bonkers japanese zombie movie! yakuza zombies?

REC ( Jaume Belaguero ) scarey as fz$# take on the zombie survival style, watch it before the americans f#w& it up with that re-make!!

THE ORDEAL ( FABRICE DU WELZ ) like a Belgian DELIVERENCE its got the scariest dance sceen i have every seen!

SWITCHBLADE ROMANCE or HAUTE TENSION ( Alexandre Aja ) before he made thoes shit Hills have eye's re-makes, he made this, just fw@#~wz nasty!!

SATAN or SHIETAN ( Kim Champiron ) Another french horror movie, sinister! with Vincent Cassel, funny but desturbing at the same time!

THEM or II'S ( David Moreau ) another frech horror film, shot in a villa in Bucharest, a refreshing take on a stale movie style, unexpected ending!

well i could go on for ever, there are some many great horror films out there!

anyway hope this is some help.

MissTrissy: I would consider myself a horror movie buff i love em.... hope that doesn't make my name make a list somewhere incase there's a killing spree one day

The best horror movie i have watched lately would have to be rose red a movie based on the book written by stephen king but dfirected by someone who's name i didn't catch haha. needless to say this movie made me sit up pay attention, wonder what the hell but i couldn't tear myself away from it definetly worth a watch in my opinion.

I'm waiting to see how good/bad Saw 5 will be i mean seriously they've only done two hostel's they have to run out of ideas eventually.

there is also a new movie called Dying Breed i can't wait to see **evil laugh**

if anyone can suggest any really terrifying horrors feel free to send me a message.

well that's enough for now byyyyyyyyyyye
