dvustimmer: I'm just going to try to add to the list because I can't disagree with alot of the people listed already. The combo of Howard Leese and Nancy Wilson always was hard to beat. Two guys that may not have played in blur mode, but wow the phasing is great taste is Donald Roeser, and Mick Ralphs. I've stole alot of stuff from those two guys for sure.

CourtGesture: Stevie Ray Vaughan could really nail that vibrato as well.

CourtGesture: Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac's original guitarist (When Fleetwood Mac was still a blues band) also could do the vibrato well, although the audio quality of those original recordings was lacking. Chuck Berry was also very, very good, but again, those early analogue recordings leave much of the highs and lows barely audible.

dvustimmer: Bornhisker, Buddy Guy! Wow, that guy is crazy great. I know my next mention is not "rock" guitarist, but Chet Atkins just because I don't think there is any list of great guitarist that should not have his name mentioned. Buddy Guy is right on that same class as Chet.

CourtGesture: Fleetwood Mac's 2nd album released in 1968. Awesome English Blues album, I often listened to it start to finish. I recommend it highly to any fan of blues guitarists.

Eccentric, schizophrenic fucker, Peter Green was. Syd Barret's brother perhaps??? LOL.

CourtGesture: Brian may was a virtuoso from a technical standpoint although he lacked some of the "depth" and "feel".

CourtGesture: Terry Kath of Chicago was extremely nibble with the fingerwork and was gifted with drawing sounds out of his guitar that had never previously been heard before.. Even Hendrix was a fan. This really isn't much of a "tune", but it shows how he was able to transform those six strings into a rather "unearthly" sound. Legend has it that this track was totally improvised in one take.

chip7993: I'm a serious blues bassist, & Dusty Hill is my hero. So i have to throw his name in the ring for bass greatest. I also totally believe the great Billy Gibbons to be the best overall at guitar. Sorry dude but i think ZZ TOP RULES rock & electric blues. You just have to respect a band that has been around for 40 some odd yrs & is not only still together but also still playing gigs.
