what is the best way to learn new language? suzannedreams: It seems like people from other countrys seem to pick up language very quickly. Is there a secret to it? Hummmmmmm do tell. suzannedreams: Yes, and your english is great. Trying to learn french . I think I know alot until someone starts speaking to me and I go blank and understand nothing! LOL! techno_hedonist: I want to start off by saying chatting is a terrible way to learn a new language. I have yet to talk to someone who learned their second (third, fourth, etc.) language through chatting online who could actually speak the language they claim to have learned. Even if you use perfect grammar and spelling you're only learning part of the language, not all of it! There is more to a language than just text. A good tip that I try to keep in mind is to avoid translating the language you're learning into your native language in order to understand it. Being reliant on your dictionary discourages you from actually learning the words and grammar. Also, there is so much work involved in translation that you will never (and I mean -never-) become fluent in that language.
