The thing about this region is that it is part of the Great Rift Valley that runs from East Africa to Syria. Two plates are grinding against each other, which is why there are earthquakes in Israel. It is also the reason why Saudi Arabia is littered with extinct volcanoes. And as we all know, Moses led his people directly to this very region.  h0nd0: in jordan yes i know of it.. for arguement.. He had a wife and two sons there. Also, we are told that the Mountain of God is there, because it was near the burning bush, where Moses was walking the sheep of his father in law. Furthermore, Moses knew exactly how to get there, having travelled along the route at least twice. Logic therefore dictates that Moses all along planned to take the Israelites to Midian, and only after showing them the Mountain of God take them to the Promised Land. It is instructive that Moses has to ask the son of his father in law to guide them to Canaan. Clearly he didn't know the way, and when no help was forthcoming they got lost, hence the forty years of wandering. LOL ghostgeek: I don't think God exists and I have given reasons for my opinion. Remember, there may be many gods but there is only one God, the deity of Moses and Exodus. Therefore it is apposite to talk about the Plagues of Egypt, the miracles in the desert, the theophany and the subsequent wanderings. ghostgeek: You may have your own concept of God, but if it doesn't relate to the Biblical God, it is not the subject of this thread. ghostgeek: Something to ponder is the fact that historic eruptions have occurred near Medina, notably one in 1256 AD. Thus we have evidence that volcanic eruptions have occurred within recorded history in what was Midian, the home of Moses's family. Sorry, but I have no interest in the opinion of someone whose only justification for their beliefs is that they survived a couple of scrapes with death. February 7th 1989 .. now im a fisherman of men.. and if i can i work for God...... amen h0nd0: and by the way its not rational to believe the unknown because its unproven.. rationality is only a term in which information about the possible consequences of different decisions is gathered and used... there`s only one rational point to make in finding God.. and that it greatly depends on one's values.. to discover his own self.. for if he cannot feel right for himself how can he make a choice for others he wants to care for? h0nd0: no rationality can explain the dimensions of God.. he is multi-dimensional .. and in order to pass from this dimension to the next. in that transition you will be on a level in which fear will come into play.. and to pass through that.. you are to believe in a God, named yahweh, since his creation he suggested that we live in a first hell to understand .. .. thats where we are now.(in a FORM of HELL before the eventual REAL HELL). are we better off.. ? are we trying to do what GODS DESIGN WAS CREATED FOR?. can we re-plant the forbidden fruit or do we ask God to fix what we cant? every sin in our family including the sin of NOT fearing God.. is something we must try to fix in our families.. everyday we remove those sins allows us to do what is Gods ideal.. God is not instant coffee.. you cant just mix a cup of God and drink up.. you must be partly responsible in your choice on if you want a cup of God.. and brew him into your daily routine... but most of all.. dont SIN the GREATEST SIN OF ALL....
