First Book you Ever Read (Page 3) department123: Proper book would have to be "James and the giant Peach" by Roald Dahl well I was only a kid it was hardly going to be war and peace. Currently I am digging my way through DUNE. phiffe93: my first real book i read was the girl with the dragon tatto by Stieg Larsson ^_^ really good book then i read the two others Perdurabo: Stig of the Dump by Clive King when i was about 10 years old Barney is a solitary little boy, given to wandering off by himself. One day he is lying on the edge of a disused chalk-pit when it gives way and he lands in a sort of cave. Here he meets 'somebody with a lot of shaggy hair and two bright black eyes' wearing a rabbit skin and speaking in grunts. He names him Stig. Of course nobody believes Barney when he tells his family all about Stig, but for Barney cave-man Stig is totally real. They become great friends, learning each others ways and embarking on a series of exciting adventures. (Edited by Perdurabo) XiNfAmOuSxInSaNiTyX: I can't really remember that far back but chapter book wise that pops into my head is the Beverly Cleary books, Where the Red Fern Grows, and The Summer of the Monkeys. Now they're all movies but Beverly Cleary has way more books than just Ramona and Beezus!! I read them all before the movies and it's trippy how things from my childhood are coming back now.. rritter2gator: Stuck in the 60's is too right about The Lion's Paw; I grew up in Florida, but I haven't thought about that book in ages-will have to re-read.One of my all time favorites, though, is A Confederacy of Dunces by William Kennedy Toole. If you haven't read it, give it a whirl. slasian: The first book i read in English is Arabian Nights. I was 13 and though i know all of the stories in my native tongue, i was so to look at them from a strange language's semantic flow. Carmi27: Can't recall the first book but do remember some of my faves from kinda 10 onwards; all the Judy Blume books, the Dollanger series (Flowers in the Attic). The Outsiders & other S.E Hinton books. Lots of happy memories :-) JustCallmeShe: I'm 26 but if the first book I read was good it would be comprehensible to me and I was 5 so kindergarden? yes, and...? | Books Chat Room Similar Conversations |
