ImaginAries: I've got a couple of books in progress at the moment.

For my book club, we are reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronté.

For my own pleasure, I'm reading The Doomsday Key by James Rollins, and I also have The Once and Future King by T.H. White sitting around, half read and waiting for me to finish it.

CinnamonCoffee: I recently finished Schillers "The Robbers" (and I really didn't like it but HAD TO read it for my studies).

Now I am going to start Siegfried Lenz "The German lesson" and at the same time, for my private pleasure, I want to read Jim Butcher's "Dead Beat" (from the series "The Dresden Files", does anybody know it?).

I think I will start this evening.

@Qz: I'll have to read it and I am really pondering whether I should read it in English or better in German language. If even native speakers have problems in understanding it, German would certainly be the better choice. On the other hand it's not the same to read it in another language. *scratching head*

stb754: For some reason I always have more than one book going, tend to reread my favorites, as it seems to be like a visit with an old and dear friend. I am currently rereading 'Shelters of Stone' by Jean Auel. It's not her best in the series, but am getting ready for the 6th book coming out (hopefully) in Jan. of next year. I am also rereading Asimov's 'Nine Tomorrows' and Hiasson's 'Double Whammy' -- this is in addition to all the early medieval stuff I am reading for my studies.

Metaverseguy: I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and also The End of Faith by Sam Harris (this is the last person of the unholy trinity of popular Atheist authors that I've read).

I'd also like to read a book by Paulo Coelho in Spanish. His books are very easy to read so I don't think I'll struggle.

Metaverseguy: It's easy if you are reading nonfiction where you don't have to worry about the plot and characters. I never try and read more than one fictional book at a time where it's necessary to remember a lot of details about the story.

CinnamonCoffee: Aren't books always fictional somehow? *g* Or what kind of books are we talking about?

Seriously, I will just try and see.

stb754: Maybe my mind set is different at different times of the day, or whenever I pick up which ever book (fiction or not), but as with friends I can always pick up where I left off -- even if I need to remind myself of recent events a page or two back...

Inertia_Crumb: Hashish!

by Robert Connell Clarke

Rob Clarke, author of Marijuana Botany, illuminates the world of hashish from growing the marijuana plant to collecting its valuable resin and making hashish, a concentrated form of marijuana's active ingredients. His serious study demystifies hashish and debunks long-held misconceptions.

scionschild_: Actually, there are some gems in "childrens'/young adult" choices!

I am re-reading "The Giver"/Lois Lowry, which I find is an amazingly written, frightening story!!!

stb754: Scion, you're right about kiddy lit, and 'The Giver' is a good example of that. I must admit I will always have a soft spot for 'Bambi, and '101 Dalmations', both of which I have recently re-read.

The_Boot: The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, most overrated book ever...Started reading it but found it boring, predictable, unoriginal, poorly written tosh. Got to page 200, cant bring myself to read any further. Im under the impression that its a book for people that dont read very often. Maybe aimed at readers who enjoy the Harry Potter books. I just dont geddit!?!
In the same league as The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, too much hype and no substance.
