Banned and Challenged Books 📚

AretoNyx
AretoNyx: Please tell me books you enjoy that are banned or challenged. Just books really I do not get into the drama of the authors and who they were or are.

What are some books that are banned and why are they? Even children's books.

I only have part of a book found on youtube. It is interesting to see people read aloud or have audio books of all sorts.

graycrow3: there is an unusual series, a quadrilogy, written by anne rice, the vampire author who writes under a non-de-plume (sp) and its a book of BDSM following the format of sleeping beauty, its quite erotic and never ending, you finally get tired of it all, but its not banned, it was in my library system and I jokingly think the pages wore out and they never bothered to get new copies replaced them.

AretoNyx: I do not think censorship is about replacing but stopping others from thinking on ideas and facts. Some deem dangerous so much that people can not stop themselves from destruction like a Jekyll and Hyde being violent because many people think such things are only caused by books, movies, and video games. Some want censorship for power over others whatever reasons but those books do still exist.

graycrow3: seems like i read somewhere, that jekyll and hyde which was written by robert louis stevenson? was really about 2 different areas of edinbourgh, scotland, one area was peaceful, urban, gentile and safe, the other area, nearby was poor, diseased, violent, large crminal class, meant to be more allegorical. what is a strange read, is mary shelly's frankenstein, for the 1st sci-fiction book, its very strange, cause and affect, don't make sense and characters have the oddest justifications or none, Odd that it was published a year after jane austen'd death by a 19 year old girl who with her husband percy shelly, were both careless in general and neither worked, as they had pretentions of being upper class and idle.
