INTELLIGENT & BEAUTIFUL... (Page 2)

SWlNE: ha I grew up with that mentality, we must be the provider and as a boy you're to be responsible for your own family and yourself (must know to cook, clean, fix, everything). I still hold that view and I see no problem with it. I understand what you mean though and I think it shouldn't be reserve for boys alone but should be encouraged in girls.
The thing is a woman can make whatever amount, I'd not bother if she's making more financially than I do but it is important for me to have my own job and to also be contributing, I'll feel ashamed & uncomfortable if I'm not occupied with a job.
From young, both genders should be taught to be independent and know all the roles than set one aside and leave the other ignorant. In modern times it is important for survival

uglycow10: I totally agree with you. However, you will notice that in countries where females are oppressed....education is not an option.when people are ignorant and uneducated, they are easier to control.you will notice that in countries where females are oppressed... They also tend to be uneducated.
I make that statement in order to agree with you that ....both men and women should have a sound education so that they are prepared to deal with this fast paced world of ours..
If males are socialized with that mindset they will not be shocked at the prospect of an intelligent women... They would rather expect it

jimmy67incanada: For the last several decades in Canada boys have been sidelined in favour of creating an environment where girls have a greater self esteem. Watching my teenage kids and their friends I see girls who assume the world will give them anything they want and boys who have little to no value to society with extremely low expectations. I think the pendulum has swung well away from oppressing women for the younger generation and still the pressure continues. To a young white male affirmative action basically means bend over and take it because your grampa was a sexist prick. It is a bad time to be a young white male in our society.

bradless04: My two cents as 21 year old that started daring - first off, I'm not super successful but I am an adult, I own my car, I have a career, I graduated college (kind of) and still take certifications when I need to for work.

the dates I have gone on are ridiculous. As soon as I pick up the female I know how its going to go based on how she speaks. I cannot stand the ditzy no direction women, like seriously you don't know what you want to do with your life?

SWlNE: Yes, there are those places were education is restricted and unavailable as well as places where education is open but not pursued for various reasons/limitations. Even in these places the education system isn't that effective. Girls tend to perform in a class setting while most boys don't. That's a different discussion ha.
What you said on socialising males with that mindset makes sense.

On a side note, when I said intelligent I wasn't leaning too much on book-sense/education qualifications, but more on logic, abstract thoughts, critical thinking, understanding capabilities... I've been with women who didn't have a deep education background but were witty and piquant as hell. I considered them intelligent.

uglycow10: Point about natural intelligence vs book learning, well-taken.
I believe that just the mention of having achieved a degree.... Or being on a powerful career is quite intimidating to some men... Although there are those who are just naturally smart and can cope with women of any educational/career level ...

There is a name for such men....Confident !
