They went to high school together, but he is now turning 21 and she only just turned 18. Australian. Is dating someone with a 4 year age gap bad? She is still in high school too. WittyInPink: Although, I would like to add: Age gaps mean absolutely nothing, if two people are emotionally, mentally, and sometimes physically on the same level. Most of the men I know, who are much younger than I am, annoy me. They grew up in a different time; one of entitlement, where social media was the babysitter, and people got trophies for showing up. I'm not okay with that. Work hard, play hard, earn hard. But then again, I've known a few guys who are much younger than me and are very mature, responsible, etc. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with either of these scenarios; it's just that when dating someone whose age is far from yours, either younger or older, I think it's important to be honest with yourself about the differences, and whether or not you're willing to compromise. Unless we told people the age difference no one ever suspected. Deciding to be with a younger person depends on who the person is. Some will act their age and some will act more than their age. I found him selfish on many levels. Eventually I told him that if he wanted a Mum, I'm sure there would be someone out there who was keen to oblige - I just had no intention of picking up after him.
