Where do you get your facts and information? What resources do you use for news, history, science, econ or other?

AretoNyx
AretoNyx: This morning in having a conversation with some one they said, " I do not read or watch the news , but I get all things I know about the world from rumors." , in so many words. I would say that is still getting info from news sources of some sort , but I digress. Also I see people say how they have the research info even without evidence on a topic, ways of knowing more than another in bragging even if not an expert, claim they know things from news while only getting ideas from rumors , and say other things of opinions are facts. So even with media literacy skills and not going by rumors while keeping a mind out for investigation what is the best resources for correct info?

AretoNyx: I started a series on media literacy but many say they already know all there is needed to be known critical thinking to anything else. That is a flaw right there in such behavior.

irishbat: It is so important as to where/what sources someone goes to to get their information from. Like you stated above you spoke to someone who doesn't read or watch any news but get's their info from rumors??? If that's the case why even bother to discuss any current events with them at all?

AretoNyx: Opinions or biases from all things can happen. but with some people they may think rumors more worth chatting on because family and friends are the ones ( whatever reasons including conformity). I can't just see myself doing that and find that sort of thing boring lacking any imagination or thoughtful conversation. Though I do not read minds and ask questions how people believe, where they get info with resources, and some times it is even almost controversial to ask such things. One really doesn't know how others feel unless they give honest communication on such. I don't really say much with them. I do have family however that does this and still say hello and such, but not much else.
