Who wants to eat out... Goran: ...when preparing your own food is one of the most rewarding experiences. How do you treat yourself at home? One of my favorite and easy/quick dinners is Alaskan crab, huge salad, and glass or wine. It takes about 15 min and it's delicious. blonde goddess: trust me if you tried my cooking you would prefer eating out i manged to burn pasta yesterday. not just a little bit. i had to throw the pan away i once tried baking... i finished baking some sausage rolls for xmas and then dropped them in the dog bowl if i cook for people my poor nan is on stand by on the phone talking me through the whole cooking process Goran: It's all about practice. If you keep doing it and perfecting it you'll surprise yourself soon enough. Entropy: Well, I'm a pasta/seafood person myself (Italian, can you tell?). One of my favorites is making a white wine sauce and adding shrimp, scallops, and parsley at the end (cook the flavor of the wine into the seafood while infusing the sauce with the taste of scallops). I pour the linguine into the sauce pan with the sauce and cover for about 3 minutes, and then serve with either white wine or reisling. It really doesn't take that long either. The sauce probably takes 20 minutes. Prep time around 10. Wireclub Admin: Oh sounds good! I love spicy foods and sometimes we just cook 3 large diced chicken breasts with Nando's Coconut Curry sauce and have it with basmati rice w/ peas. I would say it takes about 20 minutes to make with very low involvement. I am hungry now. Entropy: I love coconut curry sauce! I've been going crazy with curry lately. Chicken and Apple coconut curry soup... you think it sounds kind of weird, but wow... it's amazing. Wireclub Admin: "It's all about practice. If you keep doing it and perfecting it you'll surprise yourself soon enough." I hope so, I guess I just don't try often enough. My brother-in-law, he is a real cook. Whenever he invites us over for dinner I know it is going to be awesome. It must be awesome to be skilled like him Girl with High Heals: I love to cook... That is one of my passions.. The dish that i like the most and my friends kills for me to do is fish rolls with lobster and shrimps.. Is not easy to do.. But at the end is well worth it. Wireclub Admin: Oh so hungry now, and I don't even have food here, been procrastinating going out to buy groceries since the weekend... Wireclub Admin: I 'discovered' curry about two years ago - can you believe it took me this long?? Now I am so into it. Back when I was living in NYC one of my favorite things to do was to walk around somewhat randomly looking for Thai/Indian restaurants to have some awesome new spicy curry dish Girl with High Heals: I use the curry sometimes just with a fish or chicken... And is an easy way to change a dish.. Goran: Rob, procrastinating or playing Fallout I love seafood and know exactly the sauce you make Ent. Muscles marinara is one of my specialties but that takes about 30-40 minutes. Marinara sauce is with red wine, fresh tomatoes, and right amounts of onion, olive oil, garlic, and pepper. Then some fresh arugula or basil to serve. I make this almost every weekend. Another quick one: breaded calamari. But you can't buy the already cleaned and sliced one. It's like rubber. If you but frozen whole squid, clean it, and slice it, it will be completely different experience. Dunk it in flour only and fry in olive oil. Squeeze a lemon over it and enjoy. Takes about 30 minutes. Entropy:
I really like calamari, but that's really smelly to make when you're using a fresh or thawed whole one. I make the marinara with red wine as well. That takes a bit longer, but is very worth it.
