Tink: Camping Omelets

C%^~x the eggs into a quart size re-sealable freezer baggie. Press out most of the air, and seal. Shake or squeeze to beat the eggs.
Open the bag, and add the ham, cheese, veggies (whatever you like in an omelet)
Squeeze out as much of the air as you can, and seal the bag.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil (over the campfire). Place up to 8 bags at a time into the boiling water. Cook for exactly 13 minutes. Open the bag, and let the omelet roll out onto a plate. The omelet should roll out easily.

Have fun camping

AussieNerd: You can cook almost anything when your camping. Most of your favorite recipes will work out there too, you just need to remember what your cooking on - a hot plate that does not have a controllable thermostat.

Having been involved in the boy scouts for years, you learn to cook just about anything.

Get you butcher to vac-pack your meat. It will keep longer and taste fresher when you go to use it.

Here's an idea of what a days menu would look like

Breakfast
Cereal [Cornflakes or alike] with milk and sugar [no hot cereals, ie oats]
Toast [yes it can be done, just fry the bread in a pan or on a hot plate] with toppings
Eggs (fried or scrambled), bacon/sausages, mushrooms/tomatoes/onions
Tea/Coffee/Juice

Lunch
Salad sandwiches [Ham keeps well + lettuce,tomatoes,cheese,pineapple,capsicum]
Apples/Oranges, etc

Dinner Options
* Roast chicken and vegetables [you can cook this also on top of a hot plate]
* Stew/Gumbo - serve with mashed potato
* Steak and salad
* Stir fries
* etc - you name it, you can cook it

Desert
Tin fruit and custard

Snacks
Fruit
Biscuits
Damper (1 cup flour, tiny pinch salt and enough water to make a soft dough - it should not be sticky - wrap in foil and cook under coals or off the direct heat - can also be served with dinner)

Remember to have plenty of water throughout the day

You may want to have cordial, etc to kill the water taste and get a energy hit as well.

jean_bean: Don't bring food that spoils easy. Im a bit wary of eggs camping unless you have a cooler with a consistent supply of ice at the site. It really depends on the type of camping you are doing as well. If you are backpacking, pack light oatmeal, pasta (with a small camping stove and a pot), dried fruit/meat, chef boyd are good choices.

If you are going to a camp site, check if they have ice at the site before you go and you can pretty much bring anything. Hamburgers, hot dogs, (dont forget toppings and buns!), corn, steaks are great to cook over a campfire. You dont really need recipes to go all out cooking. You ARE camping afterall...

Rich_Is_Here!: I got one! Hobo Dinner! you take hamburger and potatos patty up the patties good and thick! cut potatos however but not to big! you can add what ever other veggies or optional meat! wrap all that up into aluminum foil at least 2 times and place around the edge of fire or bury in light coals for about 1/2 to hour depending on fire temp. and how big your meal will be!

RustyLugntz: An easy meal is what we call chuckwagons. Put a patyy of hamburger on aluminum foil. Add a few sliced potatoes and any veggie u like along with seasoning and a small pad of butter. Wrap it up and lay it over coals (not fire) shovel more coals on top and let cook for 20 - 30 min.
