lummox: Two things in fact, one following the other.

Wonderbunny: The larger one headed straight towards them, with the smaller one close behind.

lummox: As they broke the surface he could see that they were grinning.

Wonderbunny: Was it a friendly grin, he wondered.

WineNSarcasm: He didn't have to wait long as he saw its gigantic mouth opened wide and coming straight for him !

Wonderbunny: "Swim away! Quick!" he yelled at the swan whose back he was riding.

lummox: "got summat against flying bud ?" , said the swan as they soared upwards.

WineNSarcasm: Once airborne, he was amazed at the sights below him.

lummox: Not least the clusters of orange lights adorning the landscape.

Wonderbunny: These were not powered by ordinary electricity.

WineNSarcasm: "Please to swoop down so I can get a closer look" he implored the swan..

Corwin: It turned out to be a large gathering of circus clowns bent over and lighting each others' farts on fire.

lummox: Flying by the light of these moons the swan soon saw a safe place to land.

Wonderbunny: After landing the swan said "Remember your promise. Take me to Leida or a curse will be upon you."

lummox: Alighting awkwardly he rummaged in his pockets, and brought out an atomizer, spraying the swan, which sank immediately into a deep sleep.

Wonderbunny: I need to find out who took all the trees, he reminded himself.

Corwin: As the swan slept he wandered into the distance and found himself confronted with a clump of trees surrounded by a fog of some kind... but a fog that shifted, and wafted, and seemed to be lit from the inside with a light that was of the like he had never seen before... an unnatural light.

WineNSarcasm: He was mesmerized by its appearance and stood transfixed as it creeped closer to envelope him and began pulling him, gently, deeper into the woods and whispered his name as it did so

Wonderbunny: This was definitely worth investigating, but as soon as he set foot in the wood, his feet got stuck in the muddy swamp from which the mud was rising.

lummox: Blinded by the mysterious mist his heart sank faster than his feet, 'wish i'd learned to swim' he thought.

WineNSarcasm: And it was at that moment, he was pulled out of the swamp and returned to dry land where he stood catching his breath wondering what had just happened...and why..

lummox: His thoughts were interrupted however, by the familiar sight in the distance.

Wonderbunny: The sun was rising.

lummox: and the silhouette on the horizon just had to be his old friend's family home Gormenghast

Wonderbunny: Well that's all very well but how old was his friend at the time he had regressed to, was his friend even born yet?
