PTBO52: My friend who moved out to BC was diagnosed finally with this disease. It took along time to arrive at the diagnoses. Does anyone know how long this has beenaround? Is it an autoimune problem? Are there genetic
links?

ApathyAngel: almost all my best friends have it probably because they always overwork themselves.

There's a lot of ways to cope with it

Massage, Epsom salts, facial creams, vitamins, minerals, you pretty much need to do just about everything possible to take care of your body but what really helps is getting your affairs in order... if you need to work 4 jobs no magic elixir in the world can help you.

However I keep hearing great results with something called "Willard Water"... look it up.

otcclass: Yes.. My husband has this awful disease... He puts up with the pain every day due to the fact the the pain pills he was taking was affecting how he was thinking and he did not like that one bit so he just puts up with the pain.
I believe him to be very courageous because he does put up with the pain. I believe that anyone that puts up with the pain is very courageous.
As far as what the doctors have told my husband there is no cure for this disease (at least not for the type he has).

Apathy:
Thanks for the list of ways to deal with it but none of them would work on my husband.. The only thing that seems to even somewhat relieve the pain even for a few minutes is a very, very hot bath (or at least as hot has he can stand it) and warm weather. That is why we are moving down to AZ
"Willard Water": Historically used as a cure-all or panacea, however there are no proven pharmacological effects of Willard Water . In the past, it has been used as an industrial cleanser. The FDA does not recognize Willard Water as safe or effective

Thanks for the info and when my husband can get some money to see a doctor we will look into this pain medicine. Just hope that it don't affect him like all the rest has by making him not think clearly.

Well, the brain is what sends the messages to all the different parts of the body so you are some what right but the actual pain receptors are in the spine..
So what you should have said is it is all in your mind and your spine... *lol*

Mary:
Yes... I do agree with what you are saying. I totally do..

mayjayran: Fibromyalgia is caused by a trauma suffered. There is a pain gate in the brain that tells u to react to pain-in fibro patients the gate never shuts-hence brain tells u that you r in pain-hence chronic pain. Pain wears u down-hence chronic fatigue. Believe me wish i didn't have it. Saps the life right out of u. People that have no idea what they r talking about should keep their opinions to themselves.

vanderk86: Meditation, Tai Chi & Yoga. With regular routine, his pain will subside. Mind over matter. This is precisely why placebos work on the majority of the population.
Have you husband take this.
1.Magnesium
2.Vitamin D
3.S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe)is compound that occurs naturally in the body. It is needed for proper immune function, it helps maintain cell membranes, it assists in the production and breakdown of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

Stay Away From ---->5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)
Although this will increase levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain, eventually... the brain will fail to produce serotonin naturally. This can lead to Parkinson's and ALzheimer's "like" symptoms.

Please don't come off sounding like you know it all and that this pain from fibro is all in people's head. I don't have it myself but my husband does and I know for a fact that he is not faking and that he would do anything (almost) to get rid of the pain. He has even considered asking the doctors to sever the pain receptors in his spine so he does not feel anything. Now would a person that is not REALLY in pain wish to do something that drastic???

vanderk86: I'm not saying he does not "feel" pain. It's still all in the mind. He could imagine... his pain as pleasure. If he has a weak mind... this will not work.
