bella1007: I suffered from depression for a very long time. The tiredness, the soreness of muscles, the inability to move some days. I also had major stomach issues. The doctors tested me for Celiacs, Fibromiligia, and other stomach conditions. Then I remembered what my mom told long time ago. She always teased me that I must be allergic to milk since I could not stand the taste of it. So I thought what the hell, try eliminate all dairy from my diet. WOW, what a difference that made. My entire body was feeling 100% better within 2 days. I started running and was training to run a half marathon. I am no longer on medication for my depression, but I do have to watch what I eat and exercise and get lots of sleep.

cornnutsmaj7: HHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA, it's funny and, of course, reasonable, how and why this talk is taking place on a chat room forum, haaaa, seeing how no one has time to do anything else but to be on this and talk to people they'll never meet in person.

cornnutsmaj7: HOLY CRAP?! ONE???!!!!!! ONLY ONE MENTIONING OF GOD ON THIS CRAP?! Usually anytime "depression" is brought up, "god" is immediately an instinctive response. Bravo everyone. That's the first.

Nicotina2: Corn... does it matter if we meet?
Support can come from many places and people. I find great comfort in knowing that there are kind people out there who really do care. You might never know who is cheering for you on, you may never get to meet them. That certainly does not detract from the value of such kindness. It gives people hope to see that there are those who show love and concern for their fellow human beings.
We have a choice to make each day... many, including myself, choose to care.

Isolt: For almost a year my BF and I thought I had anxiety and depression. I went to see another Counsellor who is Psychologist a few weeks to get properly diagnosed as things had been getting progressively worse for me...I didn't like what I had to hear, but everything I was going through was finally making sense... I am not one to deal with things very well, but now that I know what is wrong I can work on getting better properly.

tylerdurdensbrother: I have been depressed forever. I don't know if there is any way out of such a mental state, a sort of alternate reality starts to build itself in your mind. Good luck. If you can escape, then great.

htdguy: all depression comes by our thinking. we everybody think that what ever we are facing problem n done mistake in life are biggest because of that we have been ruining our life totally. in reality no one problem and done mistake are biggest. we need to think every step or our life is just as beginning, life is for challenging, gaining and loosing are natural part of our life. so think everything with cool mind, never worry about what ever you lost things or moment, try to move forward , keep smiling and be happy always. then your all depression will go a way easily.

for cool and peace mind do Yoga, meditation and keep busy yourself doing something physically n mentally. further we can discuss with our good friend who has positive attitude about life also.

take care all yourself, keep smiling n be happy always.

Nicotina2: @ htdguy If only it were that simple. I think you might be thinking of depression as a state of mind, rather than the clinical definition where a lack of brain chemicals is the cause.

Your attitude of mindfulness, peace and kindness is admirable.

bella1007: To tylerdurdensbrother: Depression is not a state of mind. It is a disease. My doctor compared it to diabetes. He said that when you are depressed you have a low hormone called seratonin. Medication is used to increased the hormone. Once it is at a normal level you will see the difference in your life. So there is a way out.

Please do not give up hope. I have been there. Life does get better. I promise.

htdguy: I have interacted with several depressed people n found most of the causes are their attitude n thinking about their life. When we get to start depression our body n mind will get weaker then several disease start to attack on our weak part so people go to high depression level then need to medication n consultation of psychiatric. But medication n consultant can't solve depression problem for longer time totally. It's all depend on our attitude and understanding about our life. if anyone have depression come to spend life with yoga meditation in peace place. there are several peoples comes to our country to relief from depression with help of yoga meditation.

Life is black n white n wonderful adventurous journey where we haven't brought anything with us and we came here single and we can't gain anything for forever as well we can't loose anything forever too. this is simple word if we can understand we can live life with smiling n happily. so I wish the same to all.....

Nicotina2: @ htdguy... then there's that DISEASE called depression. Not all can be cured. There is the biological element involved also. If people could think themselves better then there would be no depression.
I know my depression is "all in my head", mostly due to the fact that that is where my brain is. You're right, it's not all black and white.

kat82: I worked 2 years for a psychiatrist-neurologist and from my experience, depression is an illness with the following possible backgrounds: It can be a symptom from a body illness or it's drug therapy, from a traumatic event (e.g. death, accident), genetic (transferred from a close family member-even aunt or uncle), or the symptom of a bigger mental illness such as panic disorder, phobias generally (e.g. agoraphobia), anorexia nervosa, sleep disorder, psychotic disorder, even schizophrenia. So, the point is that depression usually is the symptom to something else and not a plain illness. It varies to people, scale and the way it's getting expressed. A very good way to exam depression is to have a blood test just to exclude the possibility of a body illness, and then have an Electroencephalography test which can help the doctor to give you a clear diagnosis. Unfortunately, in many cases patients have to follow a pill therapy for a specific period of time, but this is like helping you cross a small bridge. Along the way the real treatment is to keep your mind busy with activities like working out (it causes euphoria and keeps away storing fat from the pills), doing some art (music, drawing), meeting old and new friends, and last but not least having a pet that gives you positive energy and sweet emotions. The most important thing with depression is how weak or strong character you are and how much you want to help yourself.
