Vitamin D Deficiency

StolenHeart
StolenHeart: I've been struggling with some health issues for more than a year now. I was finally given a diagnosis for at least part of my problem, a severely low Vitamin D level. Normal is 70, mine is only 16. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what were your symptoms, did they find an underlying cause? I'm looking for people to just share experiences with and get some insight on how it might affect each person differently, etc....

AussieNerd: Have heard of this problem, but never found anyone who has actually suffered from it.

How much time do you spend outside? Direct sunlight (without sunglasses) can increase your level of Vitamin D.

The other good sources of Vitamin D are fish (Salmon, tuna, mackerels, etc) and eggs (whole eggs).

My understanding is that bones are easily broken with low levels of Vitamin D (and quite possible that bones will ache at any point in time).

As for other symptoms, who knows.

harlett: Hi ........ i went to web md. too make sure what i was thinking was correct before i openned my mouth ......... i have begun too strongly suggest too folks too research ANDREW LESSMAN .......... please do ...... for a scource for several vitamin mixes of his ..... i can tell you he does not produce a pill ... he makes easy too swallow capsules that he has sized for a woman's throat which is much narrower than a man's .............there you should find several of his products ............one of which is carni-slim 1200 ........... it is the componets in carni slim you should consider taking ... carnitine is good for the heart .... as well as for getting the body too convert it calories into engery ......... you know you should be taking chromium picolinate at least 200 mcg's ........ i always choose products that are yeast free as possible .........vitamin D defieiency can lead too heart disease .............. type one and two diabetes glucose intoleance , mutliple sclerosis , severe asthma in children ........... which is why i suggest the chromium picolinate ... it encourages the body too metabilize sugars that can be eliminated .... you know you need a digestive aide as well ,so your kidneys and digestive tract absorbs your vitiman d supplement .................... if you are over wieght in any degree ... you should find yourself slimming down from these products ........................if you are dark skinned you need too take vitiman d supplements even if you are getting at least fifteen minutes of direct sunlight in the morning ........ or when ever ..... that chemical in skin that causes us too tan and has made skins dark do not absorb vitiman d from natural sunlight ..............it is also suggesting that a vitman d deficiency can also lead cognitive impairment as you age ........... personally i think is ,in part in due too we do not cleanse ourselves religiously enough from the over abundance of candida albicans in them ...............please ........ do yourself a favor and research .................... Pretty Bad Kid: Staying in sunlight wont do enough, besides now a days it rains too often and theres like 2-3 days of sunlight per week cause its always raining my best solution on this would be to take multivitamins and drink more milk(healthy natural milk no processed garbage)they also have vitamin D's at your local pharmacy stores, hell its everywhere dosen't matter where you are, you just need Vitamin D chewables from the pharmacy or take multivitamins and yes stay in the sun when it comes out as much as you can tolerate it, just do that and you should be ok multivitamins is very important and not taking multi-V's can be a very devilish disaster

goldenleaves: This is true. If you are very deficient in Vitamin D, staying out in the sun may not be enough. Ask your doctor if you need to take a supplement. It is usually recommended to take between 1000 - 2000 IU of Vitamin D a day. Tablets usually come in 1000 each, so taking 1-2 a day should help. Again, contact a physician first to get a recommendation. These come in tablets, as well as a chewable form, as mentioned above.

cloudygrey33: Are you taking any medications that could be bringing down your levels? I don't want to concern you but low Vitamin D can be precursor to more serious stuff- Make sure to get a really good health food store quality Vitamin D supplement... My wife had this exact thing a few years ago- Now two years later she is dealing with weird migraine issues and balance problems. Not sure still what is going on ... Trying to figure it out... But that is a red flag for a lot of different things. Take it seriously and take the vitamins till it goes back up ...You don't have to get super worried about OD'ing on it for now till those numbers get better.... just follow doc advice for sure!
And try boosting your Magnesium levels too ... Get plenty of good greens, healthy nuts, fiber, etc ... And yes go outside a lot!
