wayne elliott: Yes, I tried counselling and medications too and was grossly disappointed. I came away with a complete mistrust of doctors - and I was a nurse for ten years! I wish I had an answer for you. Personally, I have used art all my life which gave me some purpose, but I am learning to accept that depression is part of this journey for me. Understanding why has helped.

lesliecorinnespencer: I've had depression most of my life, I take medication 'zoloft' to stay 'even' but this rips off my vibrant personality and creativity, and I hate it, and now the government wants to take away my license when I havent done anything wrong

wayne elliott: geri61james Good On You! Such a hard thing to quit smoking! As for the weight issue I was wondering whether you might have been substituting food for the ciggie - even if just to keep your hands busy? I would suggest that a bit of weight is healthier than smoking - the problem in that being societies obsession with appearances

wayne elliott: And Thank You Geri. I find I am in a similar situation - heart attack in May 2012, smoked for about 30 years, and, yes starting eating more food after. Lost the little waist I had and had to get another wardrobe. Cigs are expensive here too (Australia), though I am envious you live in England you lucky non-smoker!

wayne elliott: Hi Geri - well I've always liked the English - all that history etc even though I am of Scottish descent, born in New Zealand. My exercise routine is a lot of walking - I've always done that, and also lift a few weights just to keep fit not to be Schwarzenhager. Walking along with swimming is one of the best exercises a person can do. There are a lot of runners in this city (Sydney) and I often wonder how they can believe its good for them pounding on concrete in the heat of the day breathing deeply of voluminous car fumes. Commonwealth Games just finished and this is monday at 3pm which is 6am monday in London.
