ghostgeek: To answer the original question, yes, I have been vaccinated; for Polio, Tuberculosis and Tetanus. Seems a lot of people are dead set against vaccines on health grounds but there's nothing healthy about catching something like tetanus or Polio. I guess you have to weigh up the risks and make your choice.

Metaverseguy: Vaccines help our bodies produce antibodies to fight off the virus if it is ever caught. No one is ever going to be catching polio, but maybe if someone works on a construction site or something they might catch tetanus. Did you know that FDR had polio? Everyone was afraid that you could catch in community swimming pools back then.

Metaverseguy: I was reading that in 2009 there was still polio in India. There's treatment for most of these diseases and vaccines available, but not enough staff or supplies in poorer countries. Good news! You can donate to organizations like Doctors without Borders to try and help out.

Metaverseguy: Bill Gates is just one person. There's probably thousands of people that donate to places like Somalia and south Africa. Last time I checked there was no checkbox for donating a clean water facility that takes in dirty water and pumps out clean water to their homes, and if there was there's no way to afford it - that would be millions of dollars. I guess the easiest thing to do rather than to add plumbing to all their huts would be to just put a big water tower in their villages..........and that's probably already been done.

Metaverseguy: Well I'm not sure how reputable this source is, since it's just a wordpress blog. Although, I do think that's a huge problem today. No one can seem to be sure of anything because there are studies that show X fixes Y and then there are conflicting studies that show X does not fix Y. Who are we supposed to trust? Some scientists have even admitted that the data was fabricated or falsified and up to 14% of all data is falsified according to an article I read that asked hundreds of scientists.
