Can you suddenly become allergic to certain food or drink?

mssexygirl27
mssexygirl27: I've been drinking iced tea for many many years. I can remember drinking it ever since I was a little girl....probably 6 or 7. I LOVE LOVE iced tea! That's the only beverage I love to drink. Especially hot summer days. Unfortunately though, for the past year I have noticed that after I drink a couple of glasses I get really nauseous. Sometimes I even get headaches. At first it was rare that I would feel that way but now it's starting to happen too often.

Is it possible to suddenly become allergic to caffeine?

blythereal: It is possible to become allergic to anything, anyone, anyplace...persons, places, things, so food in particular and drink, what we ingest, because if we eat only that for one and a half days in a row, without a break, and to substitute any drink or beverage for clear clean water to hydrate our bodies, we are asking for it. Seriously, so it is more than the caffeine in the tea. You are overdoing and inordinate and imbalanced and hypersensitizing yourself to something by being immoderate and undisciplined and unwise. Simple. Word of Wisdom, and read the health laws of healing, educate yourself, your body is you for now, with your spirit and soul inside, do not damage it or make it unhealthy. Be wise in your own eyes.

mssexygirl27: I don't know if it is a migraine because I don't really get bad headaches, it's just mostly feeling nauseous or jittery afterwards. It's happened again a few more times after I wrote this post. But perhaps you are right and I should look more into it. I'm just really addicted to iced tea lol. Sometimes I try to make herbal iced tea but I end up drinking caffeinated black tea once again.

Thank you for all your responses. :-)

Mimicolorado
Mimicolorado: I ate carrots my whole life-mashed as a baby, cooked, raw etc. Until I was 19. I had them in a stew one day and my hands swelled up to the size of baseball gloves and I went into anaphylaxis. It was later that I was tested for everything I ate and was told I was allergic to carrots. Miss them. (ha!)

WarriorMouse
WarriorMouse: As a small child I had rheumatic fever and was pumped full of penicillin. In my early 20's I became allergic to penicillin and then over the years allergic or bad reaction to many more antibiotics. Then (almost) daily exposure to latex gloves at work and I eventually got a red bumpy rash on back of hands and switched to nitrile and no more rash. However, have now had my throat swell up and trouble breathing after eating kiwi and mango, which I researched and find are also related to latex allergy. So YES, an allergic reaction can happen at any time and take on many different physical reactions. Just My opinion and NO, if it happens more than once, why get tested, it costs money and time. Just realize if you can WHAT caused this and avoid it in the future. Especially if it cause you to have trouble breathing or your throat or tongue swells up. That can be LIFE THREATENING!
