The great war movie you ever saw.. (Page 7) MsHaygirl: Yes very young. The scenery was beautiful and the story interesting with a good plot twist. ClassicCarTunes: I vote for the TV series Band of Brothers. Very historically accurate. For me the ONLY part of Saving Private Ryan that I enjoy is the opening scenes as they assault and take Omaha Beach. The rest of the "Why are we fighting" and rest of the movie is ok .... but by the time of Normandy the "Why are we fighting" was self-evident. Hitler needed to go. The idea of an isolationist US was long gone. If the vote is ONLY for a movie then I go with the older Midway movie with Henry Fonda, Charlton Heston and Glenn Ford. I could watch that movie once a month. Guns of Navarone is high on my list too even though its fictitious. ClassicCarTunes: Yes, Haygirl - Where Eagles Dare, another great Alistair MacLean book put to cinema, is high on my list too His Breakheart Pass is a good movie as well. Not as big on Ice Station Zebra which while the actors were good the plot is kind of slow. Bear Island is another book/movie that is good. (Edited by ClassicCarTunes) ClassicCarTunes: LOL Romanstud ... yup .. ."favorite" is entirely subjective .... adding in "Twelve O'Clock High" with Gregory Peck too. Excellent acting and it depicts the strain of being in bomber command in WW2. Iron Cross with James Mason is excellent about the Germans on the Eastern Front. Some of the more recent movies such as "Enemy At The Gates" and others depicting the Russian front are good too. | Movies Chat Room Similar Conversations |
