Dear White People

~LoisLane~
~LoisLane~: A social satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where controversy breaks out over a popular but offensive black-face party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film explores racial identity in acutely-not-post-racial America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world.

If you are not one of those "up tight type people" lols this movie was pretty good. Not much else I can say.

natowar: There's been a lot of this sort of thing lately. I always find it tough to swallow, and hey this movie may be great, but I find the views to be rather narrow as they usually are when you generalize any message towards any one people. The only dear black, white, brown whatever people message that makes any sense to me is "Don't waste your energy hating each other. Our common enemy is the system of global tyranny"

~LoisLane~: ^^True enough Natty but this is a true story happening to this day. It is a nice gesture and thought to not waste energy on this but someone has to know this is going on and energy has to be wasted in order to have it stopped. (you know I still love you right? ).......

There is a case going on right now where a University charter SAE( Sigma Alpha Epsilon) has been closed and the members have been suspended for a racist chant on a bus. There are parties some people have (not sure about this school but others) the kids have with themes...."Come as your favorite rapper ect ect" so you can imagine how people show up for such a party. Pretty sure they don't all come as Eminem.

Anywho, not a bad watch

natowar: I take the stuff too personally just because of how affected I am by the horror of everything else. HSBC laundering billions for terrorists and drug cartels, Fracking, War for profit, erosion of civil liberties, mass starvation death via deliberate scarcity etc etc. I wish the problems the film is about were our biggest ones. I sincerely do. I'm sure it's fine film, I just find the subject matter to pale in comparison to what people need to be aware of. If you feel like reading some of the crap that has been causing me to check that I haven't floated off into outer space, check out this story. I gets weirder by the paragraph.

~LoisLane~: True you might be affected by the horrors of the world. But this is one of those horrors. Maybe not to you but to people who feel this kind of shit every day. I absolutely disagree that this pales in comparison to what people need to be aware of. DUDE, this is someones fucking struggle. Might not be ours but someone is feeling this type of treatment. I might not beable to feed the starving in other countries I might not beable to stop terrorists and assheads selling guns and governments and CIA running everything and humans abusing animals and killing for sport and fun..........
I obviously feel strongly about these things and a shit ton of other things.....BUT what I can sign, what I can listen to and maybe try to put an end to. Is people wanting to get an education in our countries and being ridiculed and treated like 3rd class people in their own schools.

The film was a little bit light hearted though but the students that these things happen too, are very real and people should be aware of it.

natowar: I know it doesn't seem related, but I firmly believe if you deal with the cause of the biggest problems, the rest becomes much easier to fix. You can do a lot. Bank with credit unions, eat local organic food, get into bitcoin. Being discriminated against and having your family blown to pieces by bombs from drone strikes due to corporate influence over our political policies are still pretty different to me. It speaks to fundamental flaws of the systemic design. We can build a model that allows for the inequity of the system to be dissolved, creating a system of freedom and equality for all people. If you change things from the top down you get a working model , much better education, and a base living standard for all humanity. We can absolutely change these things simply by learning about it and getting involved. I'm no fan of any discrimination, I just think we are worried about a broken window when the house is on fire sometimes.
