Anything Goes Songs (Page 216)
Mz D Meaner: Where do I start with a tribute to Neil Peart? What a fuckin legend!! (I can't put enough exclamation marks after that) RIP Since he was Canadian, might as well start with the Hockey Theme. Check out the size of the drum kit!!!!
Mz D Meaner: might as well go back to the really early stuff that blew everyone's mind and still blows everyone's mind hearing it for the first time.
Mz D Meaner: Foo Fighters attempt at playing Rush at the 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At least they tried. One of the posts about Neil's death that stood out to me was that Neil was probably somewhere chuckling that people were trying to think of an "easy" Rush song to play as a tribute to him. There are no easy Rush songs!
Mz D Meaner: Not only was Neil the drummer/percussionist, he was the main lyricist (my guess is probably 95% of the lyrics were written by him). There are tributes pouring in about his exceptional drumming abilities (learning new techniques, going outside his comfort zone, etc.) but also his lyrics/storytelling as well as his kindness and intelligence. This is my favourite song by Rush. I love the story line and just the whole composition of the song. I feel like I'm there in the Barchetta for the drive and the race.
Mz D Meaner: Also he has written books and was quite the motorcyclist...touring on his own and travelling between shows and to the shows by motorcycle.
Mz D Meaner: I've seen so many posts and heard so many people say he inspired them to become a drummer. The world has lost a legend, and icon, a master, "the professor", a "king".
Mz D Meaner: And who'd have thought we'd ever see Gwen ("I'm Just A Girl" doing a country song in our lifetime. It's a nice song and could just be classified as "easy listening" I think.
