Murdoch slams Scientology as 'evil and creepy'

lavendar_star: Mogul makes remarks after hearing of Cruise and Holmes split.

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has taken to Twitter to urge people to ‘watch’ Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s divorce, even labelling Scientologists as 'creepy and evil’. The outspoken octogenarian tweeted: ‘Watch Katie Holmes and Scientology story develop. Something creepy, maybe even evil, about these people.’

His warning comes as Ms Holmes claimed that her every move has been tracked by a team of mystery men - who she believes have been sent to spy on her by the cult Murdoch also posted that Cruise was ‘number two or three’ in the ‘very weird cult’.

The media mogul sparked an immediate backlash with his controversial tweets.
He first tweeted yesterday morning: 'Scientology back in news. Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in [hierarchy].'

Murdoch was quickly attacked for his comments with one user throwing the ‘creepy and evil’ insult right back at the 81-year-old tycoon. However, Murdoch refused to back down tweeting later: 'Since Scientology tweet hundreds of attacks. Expect they will increase and get worse and maybe threatening. Still stick to my story.

After one user asked Murdoch for his views on Mormonism, he replied: ‘Mormonism a mystery to me, but Mormons certainly not evil.'
Katie Holmes, 33, filed for divorce from 49-year-old Tom Cruise, her husband of five years, in New York on Thursday. Meanwhile, unknown people in two cars have been seen tailing Ms Holmes since before she filed for divorce, prompting speculation they are rogue Scientologists, it was claimed yesterday.

lavendar_star: Mr Burns aka Murdoch calling Scientology evil and creepy that's the pot calling the kettle black. But hey the man is very old and very rich I guess he can tweet what he likes and I hate to say I agree with the creepy bit.

I mean L Rob Hubbard the founder of Scientology which is not a religion in Europe and is considering a cult was started by a Sci fi Writer supposedly stated “If you want to make a little money, write a book. If you want to make a lot of money, create a religion. cant argue with that. Anyway, its nice to see Katie Holmes has escaped the hands of the cult and Tom Cruise who are also find creepy. But still phone hacking of dead children and a clear agenda driven news agency, Murdoch is too funny at the irony of his own statements.

lavendar_star: Well apparently that the reason why Katie is divorcing Tom Cruise because of Scientology and their influence on her child which she should of thought about before but hey.

That's so good that you relative was able to get a way from there and that your Dad was able to help. I saw the documentary about them like any cult they cut of members especially young ones from the family to assert more control and they were threaten and following the reporter who was doing the documentary creepy.

.But yes they are every where I think what makes them more infamous is their famous followers like Travolta, Will Smith and their secrecy at least you kind off know where your at with the mainstream religions.

lavendar_star: Your so lovely Miss Gege,

but yes cults they target specific types of people i.e the vulnerable, the young, people who are isolated from friends and family or people who are going through a tough time.

I saw a documentary when they were explaining the tactics of cults which are not too dissimilar from how some outlets of religious organisations operate, they do a love bomb on you, say how special you are and how much they love and need you. freaky.

Katie should take the child and run.

lavendar_star: That's true to a certain degree, I guess mainstream religion has a history behind it that gives it a certain credibility but as we know causes many a problem. Yes even before the infamous incident on Oprah he was weird guy.

I never knew of that drama around Travolta's sons death even though a part from their involvement in Scientology both Travolta and Cruise have been dogged by gay rumours. Either way their ideology is literally out of this world with the whole alien overlords, I wonder how people believe in that but hey some of the stories in the Koran and Bible are equally quite unbelievably.

slasian: The divorce with Nicole Kidman was also linked with these 'creepy and evil' cult. I remember an article that they blackmailed Nicole and threaten her to expose her sexual life to the public. She even publicly spoke about these Scientology and their 'evil' way.

I think you all know the child is not Tom Cruise's; it's from a frozen sperm and wired enough the sperm belongs to the founder of the religion. (It's like the Rosemary Baby)

lavendar_star: Well as always there is more going on behind the scenes, I think if anyone else had made those comments, Cruise and the people in charge would take some actions but Murdoch is more powerful then them. But we all can agree that they are very creepy cult and totally understandable why apparently Katie doesnt want her child to start being formally educated to that cult/religion.

slasian: Lavendar I was reading about Tom and some strange coincidence happens

The number 33, what does it signified in Scientology? I read some explanation but it doesn't seem valid... would you just post some thing if you had a real source about it.

Cruise married Rogers in 1987, when she was 31, before they broke up in 1990. His second marriage to Kidman lasted ten years before they split in 2001, when she was 33. Finally, Cruise wed Holmes in 2006 when she was 28; she filed for divorce last week at the age of 33.

lavendar_star: Interesting but I think its Freemasons that 33 is a significant number but I just think its that a woman becomes more capable, confident and knowing in her 30s then she is in her 20s.

Lavender, are you implying that these women divorced Tom when they become confident and knowing?

lavendar_star: Yes I am, when you get older you become wiser and feel you can take control of your own life, Im sure Katie Holmes feels more confident and capable to be a single mother then stay with Tom at the age she is.

It could be just a coincidence slasian they do happen but it does seem the influence of Scientology on her growing daughter and her dislike for it seems to be the reasons for citing the divorce. As you get older you don't want to settle or be around something you dislike. I'm sure more gritty detail will emerge but the fact she is apparently (its still all rumour and claims)that she wants full custody of the child, shows she serious and determined with it all and that comes with the confidence you gain in age especially for women.

Anyway, hope your doing fine.

slasian: Am doing fine lavender. How is the rolling stone working for you, the thing we call life?

But I don't think women divorce husbands just because they turned 33 and suddenly turned wise and confident, in fact the opposite seems more sounding; the older they get the more dependent they become. They feel not as young and as pretty as they used to be and from the popular belief that men chase younger ones the older wife tends to stick closer to her marriage (though this completely work on ordinary couples it might not work on Hollywood wives) Lol

Shout Murdoch in the streets in California and people would not be thinking about the UK mogul.

It is at least a brand of supermarket.

I think the Mail has garbled up another story from somewhere perhaps in US tweet spelling.

Tom Cruise was in the first Star Wars ( film - I think to add)
