wombathebat: america too....nuclear engineers arnie gundersen and david lochbaum discuss how the US regulators and regulatory process have left americans unprotected.....the well-known safety flaws of mark 1 boiling Wwter reactors have gained significant attention in the wake of the four reactor accidents at fukushima, but a more insidious danger lurks.....they walk, step-by-step, through the events of the japanese meltdowns and consider how the knowledge gained from fukushima applies to the nuclear industry worldwide. They discuss “points of vulnerability” in American plants, some of which have been unaddressed by the nrc for three decades.

wombathebat: how long does it take....the situation seems to have stabilised somewhat at the fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant after four months of fears and uncertainties--and an early spewing of radioactive materials that spread to 12 prefectures........but tokyo electric power co...... operator of the plant, and government officials still face a host of problems.... early damage to the plant continues to present a risk of further radioactive leaks....... And questions remain over the actual extent of damage to human health and the environment from the estimated 770,000 terabecquerels of radioactive materials released into the air so far from the damaged reactors.

wombathebat: the united nations today moved to ban all nuclear POWER stations from operating and have demanded that all existing ones be shut down immediately.....their reasons were as complex as you would expect from a organisation like this but simply put their motives were this.....unless nuclear power plants can operate safely so as not to, in the future destroy the environment for our children then they must not operate full stop....investors and a small percentage of the planets population that are the bed rock of our "growth" system of economics are up in arms about this decision and it is lucky for this small percentage that they own ninety nine percent of the worlds wealth and can therefore tell the UN to piss off.

wombathebat: truth fiction truth fiction truth fiction truth fiction......their does not seem to be much of a difference between the two as fiction is easily fabricated and so is the truth.....fiction maybe ultimately more palatable than the truth.....the powers that be are happy to fabricate the truth cause that is what we want mostly....give us the happy picture please oh great and wise one on the hill for we do not want to know the bad news.
