Aurora Colorado Massacre OCD_OCD: I am unabe to wrap my head around the killing of 12 people and the wounding of 50 others at the Batman movie in Colorado. I am sickened and struck dumb.  davidk14: . It's 4:17 pm Arizona Time and I just heard on the news that there are still bodies inside the theater...10 still on scene and 2 died in the hospital. 59 people injured. They have not completed the on site investigation yet. Many families have missing people and they can not find them. They are praying for the best but are preparing for the worst. I just can't imagine not knowing. A terrible situation. A father was interviewed. His son was there with his girlfriend. The girlfriend was killed in front of him and he was wounded. The father described the murder as told by his son. Just horrible. .  lavendar_star: OK, shouldn't people save their political agenda for later, what a terrible crime and thoughts with the victims and family. A innocent trip to the cinema which many do, so sad.  Stassi SUR: Does anyone know what prompted him to do it? News report says nothing about the motivation. lavendar_star: I am very impressed in how the police services dealt with it in their rapid responds and the excellent medical care that victims have got. I have to say it was nice to see the diversity and how well people obviously get on in that town. I think that politician in NYC who berated Obama and Romney (about gun control) was far too early with his rhetoric when the victims were still dead in the cinema or people speculating if the film had any influence on suspect, the political questions/debates should be left to later. Salvegrace, its quite usual that the suspect didnt kill himself like most of these mass/spree killer, from my amateur eye and what I know from watching true crime shows. These types are normally loners, isolated and have a grudge against the world. The suspect seems a high achiever so possibly he has some sort of mental illness like Schizophrenia which is occurs more often in males in their late teen n early 20s or he is just plain bad or evil. But who knows, I'm sure he will be interviewed by psychiatrists etc and once they get into his death trap flat people will know more. I think people especially the victims' families would want to know why they lost their love ones and how a trip to the cinema ended in such tragedy for so many people. My sympathies goes to America but despite the tragedy I get a positive image of America in the response and in the wake of it all. Because they were probably relatively well off people watching a movie, as most people can relate with. While everyday, there are upwards of 100+ incidents of gun violence It's just little events here and there, not enough to splash all the headlines. When people began to start talking about gun control because of this, be aware of a few things. 1. He bought his gun, magazine style (100-round drum), and 6,000 rounds of ammo LEGALLY. He didn't go outside the law as most opponents of gun control say will happen if we restrict gun access. 2. This tragedy, even if he bought his weapons legally, may not have been avoided because shit like this happens. 3. While we lament about the victims today that nothing could have been done for them, we can do something to prevent future incidents of this and other gun violence that could have been avoided simply if it harder to get a gun. 4. Of all the first world richest nations, the US has the highest gun-related deaths.
