mean while... were dickering over how much more respectable it is too be able to say i have health insurance...mean while this noise will................puts thousands of folks out of work for ever after once the health insurance companies fold..

and no one can ever convince me.. that it isn't always the middle class no matter where they are on the scale.. that isn't harmed by all the stress, demanding from their paychecks cause them.........i say..........get the fk out of my working man's paycheck..........

Sarcastic Dots: Poor people deserve to die in the street, I agree. We need to lower taxes so Donald Trump can buy better hair. Also, Paris Hilton's inherited wealth will totally be used to create wealth and not be spent on drugs. Save us, oh noble plutocracy.

Sarcastic Dots: You're under the assumption that poor people, and I'm encompassing poorly paid people, are unworthy of healthcare because they don't work hard enough. The American health system is flawed because it doesn't reward hard work for works sake, it rewards who gets paid the most regardless of the work they do. It's entirely possible that a menial worker that spends his/her life doing manual work can have vastly inferior health care to those that were born into wealth; under a system like that, manual work--you know, manufacturing and the like--are not rewarded.

But, eh, since nobody can convince you, I don't know why I'm bothering.

you know why there is no exact number ever quoted.... it is mind boggling is why.... and is why the democrats are fighting against voter id...............it tell it a little clearer...

Sarcastic Dots: So your solution to solving Americas employment and manufacturing problems is ensuring that they don't work in manufacturing because it's an undignified, uneducated profession?

Okay.

the last great ZULU KING said it best.... the number of men who sit and do nothing to put food on his own table is great....just as the number of women who do not properly parent her children........is great... it takes a strong leader too insist they get up off the ass they are sitting on.... and be made too take responsibility....everyone thrives when the community works together.................................

ohnonotthatguy: Your excused
Our Canadian children in 2nd grade know where all major cities are on a map in the USA. obviously Canadians are well educated to know about our neighbors culture and history south of the border.
Miss Harlett all you know and the vast majority of Americans is that Canada is cold

lavendar_star: lol I think each country has its own merits and I dont think one is necessarily better then the other obviously America overshadows Canada on the international stage, but from my experience with both nationalities on this sites. I find Canadians more tolerant, more educated and care more about the world outside of their borders, less judgmental, less insular and see the world less black and white i.e. everybody on welfare doesn't want a job etc. I also would defo rather live in Canada then America probably because its more similar to the UK in many aspects.

obviously I am generalising to a certain extent.

Corwin
Corwin: I for one am the kind of person, that when thinking about a country, whether my own or someone else's... the first thing I think of is Geography and Culture, not Politics. But as a photographer and an artist, I always consider how beautiful something is before I consider the darker side of things.

----------

When I think of USA, the first thing that comes to mind is The Grand Canyon, The Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone... there are places in America like no others in the world. Rocky Mesas in the West, the endless shoreline of Lake Powell and un-Earthly rock formations sculpted with time.

Then I think of their Pop Culture... I am a huge fan of cinema, and the US produces some of the finest. I think of Rock'n'Roll... Harley Davidson motorcycles... the Space Program and Neal Armstrong standing on the moon... I think of the Cowboy Culture... and the Surfers in California...

Even when their Politics comes to mind, the first thing that pops into my head is the Constitution, and the ideals for which it stands for... I think of "We the People"... Freedom, and Equality, and the constant struggle to uphold these ideals, even in the face of adversity... I think of Martin Luther King and what he stood for (instead of dwelling on how he was killed)... I think about the abolishment of slavery (instead of dwelling on how it existed in the first place)...
I of course acknowledge that there will always be corruption in any human society... but I think America still has a capacity for greatness... the ideals for which that country was founded are sound, and deserve to be diligently fought for.

---------

When I think of my own dear Canada, once again the first thing I think of are The Rocky Mountains, The Canadian Shield with it's thousands of lakes resting in ancient rock carved by glaciers and topped with sweet-smelling conifers... the endless expanses of wilderness... the beautiful Maritimes... our icy Northlands and endless tundra... our vast Prairies sometimes called the "bread-basket of the World".

And our culture is a wonderful mosaic of diversity... from our French-Canadian culture in the East... to our revered Native Cultures which we proudly embrace... our unique Maritime culture... our own Cowboy Culture out in Alberta... and our lovely Cities populated with a mix of almost every Culture on the planet, which we also embrace and add to our own... a people who are known world-wide as polite and friendly.

Now.... Politics wise?...... well... I try not to think about it too much. We are a semi-Socialist country with deep political issues... two battling Parties with greatly opposed views, sending us into a political see-saw with each passing election, and we're screwed no matter who we vote for. We don't even have a Constitution (persay) to uphold if we wanted to. Small special-interest groups constantly protesting or demanding this-or-that... no "right" to bare arms. And believe me, our Health Care System, although free for everyone, is far from perfect... a shortage of doctors... long waiting lists for desperately needed operations... a shortage of hospital beds. British and French health-care far exceeds the efficiency of our own from what I've been led to believe.
But like any country... there are no perfect solutions... we just have to be diligent, and try our best to be the best country we can be...

------------

All in all, I love my beloved Canada, and feel very privileged to live here.... but to try to determine who is better between us or the US.... well, that's a hard question to answer, and my own opinion would be obviously biased because of my natural love for the land I call home. Let's just say that I embrace my American brothers and sisters, as we are all just people when you get right down to it. Cheers.
