Corwin: What Harlett is suggesting is like what we have here in Canada more or less.... there are free-clinics everywhere, and government funded hospitals. But the reality is the same about taxation... the middle/upper-middle class flips the bill for everybody pretty much. The poor pay little taxes, and the rich have tax-shelters... the middle/upper-middle class are taxed to death in Canada.

I'd like to say that large corporations should pay more taxes... but that would be kicking our industries in the teeth... and they are supporting the entire country. Without big-businesses thriving we'd all be screwed.

I'm not exactly poor, but not quite middle-class... but to be honest, when I see a guy who makes $150,000 a year, with a 5,000 square foot luxury home, a 30' sailboat, a huge swimming pool, and a $100,000 Jaguar in his driveway parked right next to his Hummer... and then listen to him complain about how he pays too much taxes... I want to punch him in his stupid weasel face.

I Found The Exit: It is sad. It is like the governments "want" us to be dependent on them...and the only one fighting them is the middle class.

Corwin: Canada has an exceptional education system, and in general, the average Canadian is very well educated. The problem is more about job-availability. We're a country where the average guy flipping burgers at McDonalds has at least one College or University degree. It's pretty dog-eat-dog in that respect. What we need are more people studying to be doctors... there's a shortage of those, and anyone with a medical degree would be set for life.

Corwin: Yes... doctors receive their salaries from the Government, I believe.... in a Hospital, they are paid by the Hospital, and the Government funds the Hospital.

I Found The Exit: Harlet, that is complicated. The government pays farmers here NOT to plant.

Corvin, I would say that is your answer then. Your government is holding you down too.

I Found The Exit: Canada doesn't want more doctors. If they did...they would be out there scouting them. Encouraging ppl to become such.

Not that...that would matter. They encourage education here.

I have 2 degrees, I work in neither of them.

I also work with 2 girls that just graduated (teachers) and they have to leave the state to find a job. The average class size here is 35-40. We need teachers...

Corwin: @Whim - Actually, they really are stressing the need for more doctors in our education system... the problem is that people don't want to be doctors. Students complain that doctors don't make as much money here in Canada as they do in, say, America... and they're weary of the responsibility... one wrong move and you've got a malpractice suit on your hands... you lose your license to practice, and then what is your degree worth to you?... It'll get you the coveted "managerial" position at McDonalds.

I Found The Exit: I can't answer that Harlet, I can only say what we were told by our neighbors. I DO know this, we paid good money to rent that land (SO WE COULD PLANT) and the government came by and said..."look at what we will pay you to NOT touch the land"

It's all about the money.
