Top banned books aka books to read before you die. (Page 3) lavendar_star: Well that negative stereotyping and image of poor white southerns depicted in that book is still there in films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the Hills have eyes. I think Brave New World is a classic read which I was given to read at college (not uni though, its for 16-18 yrs old) when I was 16 and the stuff about sex was pretty confusing. I dont think I really got it but other stuff I did and interestingly it was written a year before Tobacco Road was written but I can understand why both books were banned at some point lol, not that I think they should be. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_New_World (Edited by lavendar_star) OCD_OCD: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/01/books/gore-vidal-elegant-writer-dies-at-86.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&hp Gore Vidal died. Has anyone read any of his works? The only one I read was 1876. lavendar_star: I haven't read any of his books but I read about him in a British newspaper and he seems like quite a character and had made very witty quotes, I think I defo will check out his work. Metaverseguy: It doesn't surprise me why most of the books wered banned (political reasons) and I'm glad that the bible is banned or at least censored in so many countries. But Black Beauty? Green Eggs N Ham? Catch-22? Gimme a break. lavendar_star: Yes your right there Casanova, even though i never knew that the Bible has been banned or censored in some countries, but then again that book has lot of violence in it and can encourage ignorance. | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
