Comrade_: Can't say I see the discrimination, they're focusing on the act of non-smoking as a requirement for the job. If the smoker quits he gets the job, no discrimination towards him/her, just their habit which the employer sees as affecting the job.

Positives: It encourages people to aim to quit.

OCD_OCD: Never has a legal industry or product been so reviled. I think smoking is a personal choice.

I also believe that the owner of any business (whether it is a bar or a company) has the right to decide what will happen on their premises as long as it is legal. No state, nor government has the right to decide for them.

It's fine for a public place to ban smoking. I don't believe people should smoke around children, either. But then again, I don't believe people should beat their children and there's a lot of that going around and very little is done about it.
