larryhemeon: The answer is read the rest of the chapter. Christ is looking for
complete devotion, it was an illistration, letting people know what is needed for the commitment to become a disicple. He
was speaking in parables the entire chapter mainly to the oridginal
12, this was part of his teaching. In Matthew, Christ was speaking
to a potentcial follower, the man wanted to travel to his home land
to make funeral arrangements for his recently expired parents, and
than would follow Christ, Jesus said, let the dead bury the dead.
The parents did not have a chance at the second life, due to the
fact Christ had yet to be sacrificed. There would be a wall
between the worldly affairs and the afairs of God.
Also says, honor your father and mother, you might see this as a
contradiction, but between God, and the parents, the choice has
to be for God. Also says the Laws of Man are in relative
authority by his permission, so we are to follow them, but when
mans laws interfer with Gods will, we are to refuse mans laws.

I hope this will help your understanding.
please feel free if you have more questions, I don't know all the
answers, but usually can find them.

I know its hard to fathom unless you look deeper, as you, at one
time I viewed the bible as fairy tales. You can not trust me,
but you may trust yourself by reading and looking hard with discernment. We were given a logical mind, if God does
exsist, he would appeal to that. my study has proven my earlier
estimation incorrect,

Everyone is responsible for his own soul.

Here's an example..... he claims that when Jesus was born, the Sun was in the constellation of the Southern Cross..... the Southern Cross is directly to the South, just as the North Star is directly to the North..... (????).... since when does the Sun appear in the South??? As far as I know, it always rises in the East and sets in the West.

Corwin: Whether or not I believe in Jesus doesn't change the fact that Zeitgiest is full of wild inaccuracies and half-truths.... most of it complete fiction.

He would say one thing that was true, followed by a dozen things that were fiction... then using the one truth to somehow verify the authenticity of the made-up stuff....... utter nonsense.

Corwin: The thing is... I also take a stance against organized religion... but religion is an easy enough target to ridicule without having to make a bunch of stuff up to do it.... that Zeigiest dude is actually harming the stance against religion, not supporting it... he makes Atheists out to look like crackpots by pretending to be one of them and spewing nonsense.... which I'm sure was his intention.

Like the assassination of John Lennon... some like to think that that was some kind of CIA conspiracy too, but sometimes there are simply nutty people who do nutty things... and Lennon made himself an easy target.

astray. Interestingly enough, Hitler counterfeited the bible, with

Seems manipulation is available, dont have to be mindless, just
having no discernment, and am sure powertrippers were part of
the scheme. After all most believe in the goverment.

Corwin: Yeah yeah... everybody is good friends with the Bush family.... George W and I go swimming at the Y together every second Thursday, as a matter of fact.

The simple fact of the matter is that regardless of how influential Lennon may have been, he didn't need the CIA to get himself offed... he was doing a great job of that himself. First, he paints a big red target on himself with claiming to be bigger than Jesus, writes songs about Marxist Communism (have you ever paid attention to the lyrics of Imagine?), kept himself in the public-eye as some sort of new-age revolutionary... and then lives in a New York flat with no gate or fence, and traipses around the New York streets without a single shred of security measures or bodyguards.
What did he think was going to happen?? I'm surprised he wasn't shot sooner. As much as I love the music of The Beatles, and not to knock a message that was essentially about peace and love..... but Lennon was a flake. His death was just as much suicide as it was murder.

Corwin: That's my point.... he WASN'T a regular human being... what made him think he could pretend to be one?? He forfeited his "regular-human-being" status long before in exchange for fame, and then fame compounded with a controversial persona.

What was he thinking?? Did he really think that the world would just treat him like some ordinary Joe-blow, just because he decided he wanted to behave like one occasionally? When he refused Yoko's suggestion of security measures and bodyguards, was he thinking in the best interests of his wife and young son?? Lennon had the common-sense of a run-of-the-mill Hippie... somebody should have saved him from himself.

Corwin: Imagine there's no Heaven, no Hell, no countries, nothing to live or die for, no religions, no possessions... all the people sharing all the world.

It's called Marxist Communism.... and in case you haven't been paying attention this last century, it doesn't work. It works just fine on paper... love and sharing, all the people in charge of everything, workers control the means of production... blah blah blah....

But Humans do not behave the way a piece of paper dictates them too... no matter how good the intentions of that piece of paper are. If you create a society of sheep, the wolves will always be in charge... and true Communism has always degraded into a Military Dictatorship.

Which has been my point all along... there are things in this world which are necessary evils... war being one of them. Without war there can be no peace... just as you cannot have day without night. It's called survival of the fittest, boys and girls.... and it has dictated the evolution of life on this planet for the past 4 billion years... that will not change anytime soon.

I like how it was put earlier (I think by Larrry)... it's nice to keep idealistic ideas in mind... and strive for something better than what we are... but let's not lose sight of reality, even if it is a harsh reality.
