duncan124:
No, some states had a law that 'loud' things, or unusual things did cause some people to loose control if they just happened to see them. And sometimes the old gets said the same thing in other states which didn't have that law.

Whimsical Fairy: I'm sure all (3) boys knew what they were doing was wrong Geoff. I doubt any of them considered what could happen because of their actions (as in 2 of them dying) Any of those boys could have been driving.

BAH! Humbug! you are anti-child shout because its Christmas time. The courts have to sort out what did happen and if someone did commit an offense they can,t change the sentence.

A judge can't say well I feel sorry for you so I am not going to give you the sentence the other judges do. Justice cannot be arbitrary.

No they can't , There are just a lot of choices of sentence the judge can make. In some states the judge had to make clear that was what he was doing.

Azathoth: I think judges take all sides of a happening, view any extenuating circumstance, all variables contributing to the crime, and what kind of record the defendant has...while judges think over the sentence. (my opinion)

Thats not the point of the story. The idea is that you can be part of any church or religion and its your problem if its just phooey. But you are stuck with the people in the USA making the wrong choices until you die.

Unless the young man was driving the car he is not responsable for how it is driven. You can't blame people for being together and no-one is responsable for the others.

NewWaveSpacePirate: I'm an atheist, but my choice would be church. Seriously.

I'd lose an hour a week instead of ask my freedoms. They can preach at me but they can't convince me of anything. Plus I could catch up on my reading, so at worst, it would be like a mildly annoying study hall.

Also, I wouldn't have committed manslaughter in the first place, so Bob's your uncle.
