duncan124:
Arty degrees, if it is are a degree, increase the salary by the same amount as other degrees.

But are not mentioned as often as the workplace has as many who people achieve as much but with any qualifications and many unqualified others.

The prestigious given to Science, Engineering , Medicine or Law is Backus in the work place those people are given status to protect the work from vandals. Architecture is both an art and a science with an engineering component.

Snowy_: An Arts Degree isn't a waste of time. Many teachers who teach our kids for higher learning have an arts degree followed with and education degree. Many lawyers have an arts degree before pursing law school as it allows them the thinking to be able to pass the bar exam. Personally, I think the world would be a boring place with out the Arts or people who didn't pursue the arts. I can't imagine the world without Music. Not saying that every musician has an arts degree, but many music teachers do.
I think the world needs diversity.

duncan124:
I think in the UK every school teacher has to have some ability in the Arts including drawing and painting.

In the past studying 'Law' was the route chosen for people studying music.

Snowy_: Yes Stewart I get your point. However, I don't agree. An Arts degree isn't a waste of time and many don't double major and have good careers.

Comrade_
Comrade_: hmm best approach is to speak to persons who are in the field you want to get into as there is more to it all than having the qualifications. Not saying that qualifications are not important, just that in modern times an extra is needed, example inter/intra-personal skills and a bunch of other shitty things. The issue is it is easy to get qualified and most people are but we have learned that more is needed in selecting the 'best'.
Safe option is yes, get a full education. It is a competition and in a place as the US you are competing with outsiders also.

I know most Engineers usually have an engineering degree followed with a business one. The 2 seem to compliment the other and are a good combination. I know many engineers.
