Turd found in car park Geoff: See, this is what happens when you mistakenly hear a news report about the biggest find in British archaeology of the decade. Geoff: A skeleton found beneath a Leicester car park has been confirmed as that of English king Richard III. Experts from the University of Leicester said DNA from the bones matched that of descendants of the monarch's family. Lead archaeologist Richard Buckley, from the University of Leicester, told a press conference to applause: "Beyond reasonable doubt it's Richard." - BBC News Richard the Third = Turd - Cockney rhyming slang. Geoff: Actually it was last Friday, but thanks for caring. I'm glad to see that you endured your sense-of-humour-bypass with no unanticipated side-effects. duncan124: Was your first post a joke? Did OCd-CCD tell you to do it? Is you head feeling better or was there something wrong with it? Sarcastic Dots: Weirdly, I was thinking about the discovery of Troy last night (prior to this announcement) and I was wondering if there was a greater archaeological achievement than that. Geoff: Troy is a lot older, and some would claim was the blueprint for Rome. So Troy is certainly a lot more important than the discovery of one English king. I certainly made sure I qualified my comment by pointing out its specifically British importance. | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
