Aura: What Christians are supposed to believe according to their teachings and what they actually believe are two completely different things, so excuse me for not putting too much importance on how things should be according to Christians.

You are excused...but I meant the Christians aren't for it, in fact they are against it,------and have been from the start as far as I can make out.

Fruitbat1919: Is that pig buggery or human buggery Monsieur Piggy? Besides the point....I am sure in the history of our beloved race, that buggery existed before the English, though we probably were the first to civilise it, hide it in the attic and then ship it off to the colonies....

Sarcastic Dots: Nick Herbert, Conservative

"If marriage hadn't been re-defined in 1836, there wouldn't be any civil marriages; if it hadn't been re-defined in 1949, under 16-year-olds would still be able to get married; if it hadn't been re-defined in 1969, we wouldn't have today's divorce laws - and all of these changes were opposed. I know that the signal we send today about whether the law fully recognises the place of gay people in our society will really matter. Above all, I think of two people, faithful and loving, who simply want their commitment to be recognised, as it is for straight couples, and that in the end is what this bill is about."

Mike Freer, Conservative

"I am a member of this Parliament. I sit alongside you in committees, in the bars and in the tea rooms. I queue alongside you in the division lobbies. But when it comes to marriage, why are you asking me to stand apart and to join a separate queue? I ask my colleagues: if I am equal in this House, give me every opportunity to be equal.

"I ask my married colleagues - did you get married for legal protections? Did you go down on one knee and say 'Darling, please give me the protections marriage affords us?' Of course you didn't. My civil partnership was our way of saying to my friends and my family this is who I love, this is who I am, this is who I wish to spend the rest of my life with. I am not asking for special treatment. I am simply asking for equal treatment."

harlett anathema: bi-sexuality,was a natural norm....up until Rome experienced either nero or caligulia.. i forget which.... and then decided too rewrite history so that they never experience anyone like again in their life time and decided in that same breath too give the world at large notions of a "GOD" with a personality & temperament they chose for Him/Her too have...it took them 300 years too put words into that "GOD'S" mouth...that was supposedly spoken too us...as a race.......while they rode through the planet and destroyed all evidence of OUR actual history..the missionaries being the worse destroyer's....

if we had a history forum..perhaps some of ya would have already done a marriage study...cause your all reacting too our history from the crucifixion of a man called HEY ZEUS.........and the enforcement of so called Christian indoctrination...........

duncan124:
The Govt is only saying if are a member of a religious order which can marry people and it allows gays to marry then you can get married.

It must be seen in political perspective. After Tony and Gordons 'overspending' on friendly gangs Cameron wants to curtail religious freedoms. If you are a new Religion that marries people then you will have to marry Gays unless you prohibit them from your religion. Gays are not the winners for sure.

Hospitals can only let the next of kin in to a hospital room , if there is such a thing, and that applies to everyone.

Aura: Okay, wait a minute, isn't the UK system a lot like the dutch system, that one must marry before the government for it to be legally recognized? You can marry in a church or any other religious ceremony as often as you like but it doesn't 'count' except for maybe you and your loved one personally. And so one can marry and yes that is really called marriage without ever setting foot in a church and/or having anything to do with religion at all.

duncan124:
I don't think it is (was) any more Coffee. You have to be married in a Church and the 'civil' side has stopped. There is no tax bracket for the married man.

That hasn't changed the laws regarding the Govt and marriage officals.

But going to the 'Registra' office was stopped some years ago

There is no civil marriage in the UK and the Govt has no interest in what was called marriage. It has been that way for sometime.
