Massive Fertilizer Plant Explosion in Texas OCD_OCD: A fire at a fertilizer plant caused an explosion that leveled an area 5 miles wide, per the Mayor there. News is saying there is anywhere from 5-15 people dead and 160 injured. OCD_OCD: Apparently the explosion could be felt 45 miles away. Unfortunately, the blast was very close to a retirement home. lori100: some say on video before the huge blast they see a missile hit it from the left........possibly true .........and there's this suspicious behavior.....-------------- Mayor: Firefighters went to fight fertilizer plant fire 30 minutes before blast www.vancouversun.com WEST, Texas - The mayor of West, Texas, says volunteer firefighters went to fight a fire at a fertilizer plant about a half-hour before a massive explosion tore through it and damaged surrounding buildings. OCD_OCD: it is my reaction to your constantly using your flaky conspiracies in relation to all tragedies, particularly those that are current. I find that repellant. again, take your aliens, reptiles and cabal crap back to your threads. harlett anathema: branch davidians.....set it off..........OR........hoses failed, which doesn't quite yet explain the FIRE....it explain a massive gas leak....in any case the BOOM BOOM created 2 .? on the ricter scale... lori100: all I did was add new info------------------was the mayor who reported the firefighters were there one half hour before the fire......why?? harlett anathema: Lori.........the damn explosion happen a half hour into the FIRE they were already fighting........................ OCD_OCD: The plant had already been cited two times by the TCEQ for violations in the facility itself. harlett anathema: Texans for some reasoning don't cotton too having to follow ocsha's(sp) safety rules too the letter...my ole what's his name company is having too hold safety meetings and are griping loudly...even though they are accident free.... OCD_OCD: I have a feeling that this plant may have taken some shortcuts in their operations, however, the fire apparently started outside the plant itself and when it spread to the facility it came into contact with the anhydrous ammonia stored there and that is when the explosion occurred. harlett anathema: i woke up too news about nothing else.....the plant made promises and swore too all manners of things which included constructing all manner of safety walls.. etc etc etc before they built the plant.... i can't imagine a company or that anyone working at willfully not take care of business to ensure they themselves not blow the heck up while on the job working...i just can't... it takes.. the American mantra of i don't get paid enough too do the work i was hired too do.. too new lows... OCD_OCD: I don't know if any of the TCEQ violations related to fire hazards. They could have been operational or structural. A fire and anhydrous ammonia is always going to be volatile. harlett anathema: they're saying if it was accidental.. it be because hose and or clamps failed..which is usually the case at plants such as.....I'm just slightly how the fire started..wouldn't sirens gone off that there was a gas line breach leaking... OCD_OCD: I don't know. I have no idea what they had stored outside or how it could have caught on fire. harlett anathema: atf is heading the investigation....isn't that suggesting they think the branch davidians had something too do with this...the company was sited once in 2006 over a ammonia odor..i just read they had..54,000 pounds of that stuff on site.... OCD_OCD: ATF are experts on explosions of any kind, and the gathering of evidence. The EPA and TCEQ are called out because anhydrous ammonia is caustic and can be damaging if inhaled. There is an air quality issue, but hopefully the rain will lessen it. | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
