Snorting and smoking Smarties candy? OCD_OCD: "PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (CBS) — Parents at one Rhode Island middle school have received a warning about students snorting a popular candy. According to CBS affiliate WPRI, parents of Portsmouth Middle School students received a note from school officials on Thursday, warning them to watch out for students snorting Smarties. School officials said the new trend is a ‘widespread phenomenon’ that’s found on popular YouTube videos. According to WPRI, the note sent to parents via email explains the methods in which students have been ingesting the sugary candy, including smoking and snorting. School officials said snorting and or smoking the candy could cause nasal problems, infections, lung irritations, allergic reactions or possible maggots inside the nasal cavity. " OMG. Grossssss! OCD_OCD: I know! Maggots? In your NOSE? Holy hell. Who was the genius who decided to snort Smarties anyway? calybonos: I snorted an Alka-Seltzer once. I woke up in the emergency room being treated for rabies. duncan124: It is racism, along with promoting food which is also a poison to some people, caused by personality disorder. I think someone saw OCDs other posts and thought she would bite on Smarties. It was so shocking how Americans behaved when they find a simple packet of sweets that it was unbelievable. Calybonos is right this time, it goes along with talking about the Rabies epidemics in the UK . Corwin: Is everything racist to you, Duncan?? Besides... everybody knows that M&Ms pack way more kick when crushed up and snorted. Corwin: Well let's see.... the original post mentions a few different types of people... ... was the racism directed towards the student race, the parent race, the school official race, or Smarties race? Corwin: So, students snorting Smarties is a racist statement against the Corvin race? Geez..... I feel so........... victimized..... How dare they? Corwin: I'm not arguing. I'm asking questions and educating myself with your infinite wisdom and insights into how the world works. And I'm taking notes, so do continue..... Geoff: Corvin; it came from a mainstream US news outlet - of course there is going to be a racist angle in there somewhere And my reading level is sufficient to spot your flawed grammar, Duncan - you changed tense mid-sentence. "behaved when they find" Surely it should either be "behave when they find" or "behaved when they found"? //Edit - Of course, everyone is entitled to typos now and then; but don't insult someone's intelligence; claiming that what you wrote was beyond them when you didn't go back and correct your typo with an edit before doing so. (Edited by Geoff) duncan124: Tired?, Hungry?....Mental case? The problem with Republican arguments is the ' consumers ' have to be thought of first to understand what was really meant. Geoff: So... we were supposed to know what your particular paranoid conspiracy was in this case in order to understand why you felt it was racist? duncan124: Follow your leader that away------------------------> Burning suger, chocolate or food colourings like they were narcotics is not real Geof. Just try and think about it. " reading comprehension " is not ' grammar ' nor is it a conspiracy. If your reading comprehension is below the posters then don't argue with him.OK? Aura: I guess this needs to be spelled out *sigh* Snorting or smoking candy is not a 'real' thing. There are youtube videos which should be seen as jack ass type video. What is real, is alarmist school officials sending out an email about this 'wide spread phenomenon' to parents. Although very few kids would actually do it, the 'cinnamon challenge' shows that given enough popularity of something stupid, kids WILL start to try to make their own version of the youtube clips. All this still doesn't point to anything racist Corwin: NOW you tell me..... I just spent an hour crushing up Smarties for nothing. Ah well.... I'll just have to settle for my usual fix of Vodka. davidk14: . Here is an article from the NY DAily News about youtts snortin candy... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/middle-schoolers-snorting-smarties-candy-droves-article-1.1585876 duncan124: Toblerone was once thought to be the sign of a ' mafia boss ' by US Police. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toblerone Indeed they were expensive. They were even mentioned in the Sopranos. duncan124: David14 you have linked a picture of someone taking a narcotic drug. Smarties is a trade name, protected by Copyright and so the second picture is probably photoshopped ....and do to the Americans having a mental problem with Smarties I guess it is just something from the mentally ill. Try this link for other irrational behaviour http://theportugalnews.com/news/anti-chemical-weapon-agency-denies-knowledge-of-azores-trans-shipment/30387 Geoff: It wasn't until I saw your link David that I realised I had been mistaken in what I was picturing. In the UK Smarties are similar to chocolate M&Ms but sold in cardboard tubes (they taste slightly different from M&Ms due to using a different blend of chocolate and the inclusion of orange essence). Therefore, since I thought that the story was children being warned against smoking or snorting ground up chocolate in a hard candy shell - I felt it was more an overreaction by the school authorities rather than a genuine problem. | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
