chronology: This date in 1981 Bobby Sands takes his final meal.

Mr Sands would die months later of self starvation. While it was a tragedy for his friends, his death was a public relations disaster for Great Britain. Across the world people marched and gathered to cheer support for Mr Sands. But by far the most damaging moment of his hunger strike came when he was elected by a huge majority to become an MP.
A commentator in London summed up Britain's set back with Mr Sands election 'Thatcher has been dismissing the IRA as terrorists with no public support or validity. Yet here we see Bobby Sands elected to Parliament where she sits with a huge majority. I really don't see how the British government can have any credibility at all in Ireland with it's policies after this set back' .

Although news of Mr Sands distressing condition was suppressed in Britain, around the world emotional descriptions of his suffering was published and commented on.

Mr Sands had insisted he be held under the designation of Political Prisoner. Authorities in London had refused such a description insisting his actions were crimes not acts of politics.

London Legal Authorities had ruled out force feeding of any Prisoners as that could be considered torture. Around the world today Mr Sands is remembered as an Irish Martre.

chronology: Yikes, Her Majesty shot at.

Her Majesty Queen Victoria was the target of an assassin this date in 1882.

The Queen, at the time the most powerful woman on earth was shot at by a Scotsman with a gun. Police Officers quickly overcame the man and took his pistol.
The Court's would later find the man not guilty by reason of insanity. The police examination of the gun discovered it was a toy.

When asked why he shot at the Queen the man grumbled 'She did not like poetry' .

The man was detained in a mental hospital for the remainder of his life.

chronology: Ballymurphy Inquiry extended hearings held today in Belfast.

The Inquiry had to hold additional hearing's due to recent new evidence. But the Court could still not uncover any solid evidence to attach to the reports Lawyer's at the Court had uncovered. Lawyers also repeatedly pointed out that soldiers description of how many bullet's they had fired and where could not be possible due to the layout of buildings.
An Officer who was running across a road fired his gun at two men with guns crouching behind dustbins. The bullets flying past the officer were most likely being fired by his men who were crouching in OB Posts as he ran out to engage any gunmen.

The officer may have been in more danger from friendly fire than IRA fire. Republican members in Belfast insist that the IRA never engaged the Army at all. Three volunteers from the IRA had chosen to make a stand to defend the Ballymurphy community, but they were inexperienced in using rifle's.
Wives of soldiers in another Regiment had given evidence earlier describing how some of their husband's had told them they had shot paratroopers by mistake. They said they had seen injured paratroopers being thrown into land rovers. But the parachute regiment has no record's of any injuries at all during the Ballymurphy sweep.
One soldier insisted he never fired his rifle once on any occasion in Ireland.

The Inquiry continues in Belfast.

chronology: Meet the new Political Leader of Ireland. The Honourable Mary McDonald.

With Ireland now settled after recent shock victory of Sinn Fein in the General Election, The Honourable Mary McDonald is now the most influential political leader in Ireland. Ms McDonald and her colleagues have yet to negotiate with other parties about power sharing to ensure a successful Government.

Ms McDonald in her opening speech to Ireland's national assembly pointed out that the victory of Sinn Fein is a historic break with traditional Government in Ireland. Two parties have traditionally provided Ireland's Government's since the creation of the Republic. The first priority of the Sinn Fein led Government will be to address the crisis in housing and transportation costs for many folks in Ireland.

Relations with England are likely to be strained from the very start of Sinn Fein led Government in Ireland. Traditionally England is at home with right wing Government's, a Government that places the needs of Irish worker's in any interaction between Ireland and England is likely to be frustrating to London. London has the same stance with Scotland's progressive SNP Government.

chronology: This date in 1938 The Mallard Steam Train is built in Doncaster England. It is recognised as the fastest steam train ever built.

At the time England and Germany were locked in friendly rivalry over who had the fastest trains. For a few months Germany held the record with 124MPH . But the Mallard took back the title for England with a speed of 126 MPH. The record has never been beaten. Both German and American Locomotive Operators since have claimed faster speeds than the Mallard, but the claimed new record's were never confirmed.

chronology: This date in 1985 Margret Thatcher triumphant over the Coal Miners Union.

The strike by Coal Miners was officially ended by Mr Arthur Scargill, Prime Minister Thatcher was greeted with waves of cheering and praise by Conservative supporters. Some have called the victory'her Finest Hour' . The rock solid support of the police and Army virtually guaranteed Mrs Thatcher's victory. It is mainly her victory in the strike that has made Lady Thatcher the most popular Prime Minister in British history.

chronology: Closing statements at Ballymurphy Inquest heard today.

The next few days of hearings at Belfast should be amongst the last in the Inquest. But statements given today raise more questions than they answer. A young Officer who took over from some Paratroopers at a OB Post in a block of flats noticed spent ammunition cases on the floor of the Post. But the Paras had mentioned who they had been shooting at. The next day the young Officer had to run for cover from his land rover and took cover behind a wall. He noticed spent ammunition cases from Army rifles and submachine guns scattered around the bottom of the wall. He said he had no Idea who the soldier's were who had fired from there at some point, or what they were shooting at. There was a 12 year old boy also crouching for cover nearby and he never mentioned any soldiers shooting from there.

Another soldier who was accused by some of shooting civilians with his sniper rifle insisted he never used a sniper rifle at all during the Ballymurphy incident.
An Officer who was running across open ground for cover when a Catholic priest was shot was asked if he shot the priest. He insisted he never did. 'I believe he was struck by crossfire' observed the Officer.

Her Honour Ms Justice Keegan plans to submit her findings on the shootings in a few months. But new evidence often forces the inquiry to be extended so people can give their statements.

chronology: Woman walks in on secret sex Devil worshipping cult.

Well this is quite a story wirreclubbers. A New Zealand woman visiting London says that when she was looking for a toilet at a vegetarian cafe in London she took a wrong turn and walked in on a secret get together of sex cult devotees meeting up to have a jolly good orgy.

She said she was astonished that the devil worshippers were so lax in their secrecy. She did what any Kiwi abroad would do who walked in on a Devil worshipping cult about to strip off and have wild sex, she apologized for taking the wrong turn and then left.

Curiously many super secret rituals are in fact often carried out in public in broad daylight. It is said that in some public parks in London and New York Freemasons and other secret groups meet up to perform a ritual of some kind. It seems the ritual has to be performed'when the sun is at it's zenith' which would be it's highest point on summer solstice Day. If you were walking past the two men involved in the ritual you would see two men just talking together. It seems that the Master justs asks his student being promoted some questions. After receiving the correct answers the Master informs the student he has now risen to his new level.
Why a park you may ask. Well no reason, but if people were turning up at the same time every year at the same building sooner or later people would notice.

These rustic get together in the City can be expensive. Often high ranking members of secret societies have to fly in from the U.S. or England as they are the only people available to teach the student.

chronology: A Southern Mystery.

Police in Tennessee were puzzled in 1977 when a body was found in a grave in Tennessee. There was a coffin, there was a body, but the grave and the body did not match. It looked like the original body, which should have been virtually dust, had been replaced with another body.

But slowly the police began to realise just what had happened. At first they suspected a grim practical joke. Then a murder scene, but finally they realised what they had never suspected. It was a simple case of grave robbing, but with a weird twist. The body belonged to Col William Shy. Someone had dug up his grave to rob Civil War era items. But they never counted on the genius of Southern Funeral Professionals back in the day.

Col Shy had been embalmed with Arsnic, and he had been placed in a virtually air tight lead coffin which had preserved the body to a surprising extent.

Despite the eerie circumstances there was some humour among Police Officers and forensic staff in Tennessee. 'We thought we had modern murder, but we were out a Hundred years' said one professional. The grave robber's must have got the shock of their lives when they opened the grave.

Another point that confused Tennessee Police was that Mr Shy was buried in his best suite as beffited a Southern Gentleman, not in his Confederate Uniform.

chronology: This year is 100 year's since Croke Park Massacre in Dublin.

Croke Park shooting came pretty close to derailing relations between Washington and London.

In 1920, hundreds of Black and Tan British police auxiliaries ran into the Croke Park football stadium and fired indiscriminately into the crowds of football supporters killing 15 and injuring hundreds of others. The reaction in America was a repeat of the response Americans had to news of violence from Ireland at the time. Amongst Washington DC political circles people tended to rationalize away the brutality, but amongst everyday Americans there was indignation at the brutality. One American commentator stated that the British were behaving worse than savage's. President Wilson found himself being slammed like President Nixon would be for not standing up for the downtrodden Irish.
The State Department regularly received report's of murders and beatings of Irish civilians. The State Department would not change it's stance of staying out of Irish politics.

The Croke Park shootings appears to have been a retaliation for an IRA operation a few hours earlier that just about wiped out British Intelligence leaders in Ireland. 14 high ranking British Agent's were shot dead in coordinated assassinations. When the Black and Tan member's heard of the shooting the literally picked up their guns and moved as a gang to kill any republican they could. The actions of the Black and Tan were not sanctioned by London, London knew nothing of the shooting until it was reported in the newspapers. Most of the Tans had probably been drinking heavily before the shooting.

In Washington DC probably the political community were more bewildered at how British Intelligence in Ireland could be wiped out in a matter of hours by the IRA.

chronology: Agent Schrader is back.

Maker's of Better Call Saul the spin off show from Breaking Bad explained why the Characters of Hank and Steve, both DEA Agent's in Breaking Bad were brought to the Show for an episode in Season 3 .

We needed characters to Play DEA Agent's in an episode of Better Call Saul and Dean Norris and Steve Quezada were the only characters fans would accept DEA Agent's in the Show. We were nervous when we called both Actors to ask them to consider the assignment but we were overjoyed when they agreed to make a return for the show.
Agent's Hank and Steve were both killed in the final season of Breaking Bad.

chronology: El Camino judged a success.

The Breaking Bad Movie has been judged a success after being available on Netflix now for two months. 7 million people, probably more, watched the movie on the first week of release, and 25 million have viewed the movie in the last two months since it was available on Netflix.

chronology: This date in 1964, Cassius Clay becomes officially known as Muhammad Ali.

Boxing fans probably never even noticed the change as Cassius had adopted a public style of bombarding American's with none stop lectures and assertions that 'he was the greatest, most intelligent, most beautiful boxer who ever lived' .

chronology: This date in 1975, The Zapruda film is seen for the first time by the American Public.

The film has become part of American folklore, supposedly proving a conspiracy. In fact it proves no such conspiracy. Dallas PD who were actively carrying out a murder investigation when Mr Zapruda sold his film to Life never even saw the film.
Copies of the film were flown to Washington DC and were analysed by FBI and CIA film experts. The FBI and CIA experts probably became totally confused when they compared the film with photographs taken supposedly at the same as the film. Different people are seen standing in Dealy Plaza in the photos and in the film. It is obvious that the photographs and film were taken on different occasions in Dallas. One speculation is that the Zapruda film was actually taken weeks before during a rehearsal for the Dallas Parade.
Some claim that the film was altered after being sent to Washington DC after the supposed shooting in Dallas. But that is not possible as FBI experts had no idea who would have been standing where in the crowd at Dealy. FBI staff were probably at a loss to explain how the film was full of anomalies. But it is easy to explain if you consider the assertion that the film was made weeks before the supposed shooting.

chronology: This date 1965, violent clashes between Alabama Law Enforcement and Civil Rights marches.

Often called 'Bloody Sunday' the Selma Civil Rights clashes by world standards would probably not even rate a report in most News Outlets. But Americans place a high standard on Civil Rights and there was outrage at the death of a Civil Rights marcher. The United States Federal Government had thrown it's full support behind the Civil Rights Groups and began Legal Action against the State of Alabama.
Again compared with violence against peaceful demonstrators in Europe and elsewhere the events in Selma were extremely low key. But Washington DC was furious at the halting of the Civil Rights march, and the New York City News Media were behind Washington all the way. The result was Alabama and other Southern States found themselves isolated politically, and in the media. All the Media coverage was hostile against Southern Authorities.
The clashes in Selma resulted from the choice of route by demonstrators. State Police insisted that the route of the marches would virtually close down traffic on major roads. The Civil Rights campaigners insisted on marching on those roads. The result was violence between police and Civil Rights Groups.

The Civil Rights Groups were protesting segregation Laws in Alabama, and voter registration requirements which they stated as good as banned most African Americans from voting.

For the South, Selma was a Public Image disaster. Selective news film of clashes between police and demonstrators, selective newspaper photography of the events by hostile New York City newspapers all combined to smear Southern People.

chronology: Paris protest yesterday.

When a French Movie society awarded Roman Polanski a top award a French Actress left her seat and walked out of the Building. 'Bravo Paedophile'. She clapped walking out of the building.

As a City the great City of Paris seems to have ecliptic values, and some say a undercurrent of racism. While Charlie Hebro are hailed as martres after enraging the Arab world, Roman Polanski is still slammed by some for his involvement with a 14 girl 50 years ago.

The girl in question is now a 64 year old woman and has said enough is enough as far as hounding Mr Polanski is concerned.

It all depends on just how long people think a crime should be held against some one.

chronology: Died this date 1999, Sidney Gottlieb.

Mr Gottlieb was the CIA expert given the task of discovering the most humane methods of questioning Prisoners. He hit on the idea of using LSD. He is also credited with developing suicide drugs for CIA staff who could choose a fast exit rather than be tortured. Francis Gary Powers was carrying a silver dollar ring pendant when shot down over the Soviet Union. Inside the pendant was a poison pin he could stick into himself if captured. In the confusion of his arrest Gary forgot about the pin.

Mr Gottliebs last days were spent as a volunteer caring for the dieing and seriously ill.

Much of his work for the CIA is still classified. His work with Lockheed Martin was probably training pilot's of U2 Spy Plane's how to resist torture. He also worked as Bridgman between the U.S. Navy and the CIA on undisclosed projects.

His most controversial moment was when fellow CIA Officer Frank Olsen suddenly jumped out of a New York City hotel room to his death. Mr Gottlieb was said to have been in the room with him at the time. The rumour about Mr Olsen's death is that he, like other CIA staff had been given massive doses of LSD without knowing he had been dosed.

Mr Gottlieb died the same date as Stanley Kubrick.

chronology: Frank Olson death still debated in conspiracy circles.

With Sydney Gottliebs anniversary comes the now usual debate about Frank Olson's death.

First, what is the official line on Mr Olson's death. Well this has him being dosed with a chunk of LSD by Sydney, either as a joke or a experiment. Mr Olson then goes crazy later and throws himself out of a window. But new evidence suggests that this may simply be a cover story.
A new theory is that Mr Olson had been visiting Europe just before he died. There he had been unsettled by experiments he had seen on 'throw always' low class people Europeans used as guinea pigs for military experiments. All we can say about this is that these experiments were carried out. Often without the throw aways even knowing that they were being used for terminal experiments. All this was too much for Frank who was said to have expressed strong objections to the experiments. A European doctor is said to have telephoned the U.S.Army saying he thought the American expert may expose the experiments.
Frank returned to the U.S. and everything he said there is still classified. But he is said to have objected to the U.S.having any part in the European project.
It was then said to have become a serious issue for the U.S.Army about whether Frank would expose the European project and infuriate the Allies. Frank was persuaded to visit a psychiatric hospital in New York City for evaluation of his depression, which he developed on return to the U.S.
He was driven by his wife to Washington DC and there was met by two men who drove him to New York City where he spent the night in the Hotel Room.
The theory now goes that Frank realised that he was not going for a 'evaluation' in the hospital, he was probably going to be detained there probably for years so he could be kept quiet about what was happening in Europe. During the night he got into a argument with his escorts and during a fight fell through the window.

Well it does seem possible. But why did Sydney dose him with the LSD a week before when he returned from Europe? Some suggest that the CIA were curious to know just what Frank had seen in Europe that had upset him so much.

So the official story that his death was an accident was true. But it left out the details of him fighting with his handlers taking him for what may have been a very long stay in a hospital.

Apparently what Frank had objected to was not drugs used to question Prisoners, it was a project that had been set up to study the long term effect of biological weapons over an extended period of years after being injected into unknowing volunteers. The project was not run by the U.S. but Frank had found out about it.

chronology: A big 'have a great day' to all wireclub ladies on this International Women's Day.

Sad to note but the most aggressive and violent repression of women is still religion of all kinds. The mind knumbing brainwashing of women is so forcefull in many areas from the Bible belt to the Muslim world that many women still see themselves as second class humans. But religion is crumbling around the world, and as it does more and more women see themselves as equal to men.

chronology: This date in 1954 Ed Murrow broadcasts a show exposing the dark side of Joe MaCarthy. It is credited as being the beginning of the end of Joe MaCarthys hold on American fears of Communist subversion in America.

Mr Murrow suggested that Mr MaCarthy was not protecting American values or security, he was weakening America with division.

After the show as he drove home Mr Morrow was cheered by trucker's and cab driver's who praised him, 'great show Ed' they smiled.

chronology: 1954 Bobby Fischer the New York City street kid who took on the might of the Soviet Union Chess Establishment born this date in New York.

He would spend his childhood in grinding poverty but rise above his disadvantages to beat the Elite of Russia.

chronology: Around this date in 1918 the first noted case of the devistating Flu Pandamic is recorded in Kansas U.S.A.

In just a few years the Pandemic would sweep the entire world and kill an estimated 100 million people.

There were many acts of community heroism during the Pandemic. In Texas friends would risk their lives driving infected people to medical tents.

chronology: Salvation Army rallies in Tennessee.

As they say in the South the Salvation Army is'Boots and Rally' after Tornadoes ripped through the counties in Tennessee. The Church is providing meals and hot drinks for people who have been effected by the twisters.

As many Salvationists in the United States say at times like these, just knowing people care and receiving a warm hand shake from their members really reassure people in distress.

chronology: All in the name of Art.

Hollywood Actor's often go through some tough experience to understand how people are really feeling when they are at war or homeless or even tripping on drugs.
But some Actors one time went above and beyond the call of Art when they spent time sleeping in Dormitories with mental patients to see how the hospital worked at night. This was for the Movie One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.
They only found out later than many of the patients were criminally insane. And they came close to spending the night with Gary Gilmore before Gary was arrested for murder. Gary would often talk about seeing the movie being made at the hospital in Oregon where he was in prison at the time. He had even been sent to the hospital, but not when the Actors were there. Gary often claimed he had stabbed people in prison, one time he said he sneaked up behind a prisoner and battered him over the head with a metal pipe.

Makes you wonder if Mr Brad Dorff or Mr Jack Nicholson knew how close they may have come to getting their heads bashed in one night at the hospital.

Oregon State Hospital is a museum today. If you want to see where the Actors came close to people like Gary Gilmore you can visit the place.

chronology: This date in 1997, the most spectacular event in UFO history occurs in Phoenix Arizona.

United States Authorities and Arizona State Authorities dismiss the reports as misunderstood sightings of Flairs used by U.S. Air Force Fighters around the same time.

However most UFO investigators are satisfied an gigantic Craft of some kind flew slowly over Phoenix that night.

The final view of the event in UFO circles is that the United States was flying a huge airship of some kind, or that an unknown Craft of some kind overflew Phoenix.

Massive Airship type Craft are still believed to be constructed in Secret by America, Great Britain and Germany.

President Clinton was rushed from a friend's home at the time of the Phoenix event. Reportedly the President broke his leg. Some suspect Mr Clinton was taking control of the crisis event.

American Authorities on Federal and State level still say that there was no crisis at the time.
