chronology: I kid you not Blackie. Only yesterday I was stood in line at the check out clerk and the woman behind me had two big packs of toilet paper in her basket and nothing else. I said to her 'good grief you are not panic buying are you' she said ' no but everyone else is. There was no paper in any of the shops near me so I had to drive over here and buy some' .

Disinfectant has also sold out in some places. Reminds me of when AIDS started. Everyone was carrying condoms in their pockets and purses. They would pull out money to pay for things and have 3 or 4 condoms mixed in with the money. It was crazy.

Zanjan: Yeah, well at least they knew what AIDS was. These toilet paper hoarders don't know that Covid-19 is just a cold. They should have been buying kleenex and FOOD.

Blackshoes: I don't get it ', what do they believe, that they're going to be locked in they're home without toilet paper?
The grocery store was mobbed yesterday I couldn't even find a carriage for just a few things I needed. Not a roll of T paper and everyone looked frightened. I cannot imagine what will happen during a real emergency

chronology: Soldier to be charged for 1988 shooting.

A soldier who shot a man dead at a checkpoint between Ulster and Ireland is to be charged with manslaughter.
At the time the soldier claimed his machine gun had fired accidentally. He was dismissed from the Army for gross negligence.
However Lawyers have considered the details of the case and believe they can no longer accept the explanation of the soldier regarding the death of the 30 year old Irishman. The man was shot in the back as he walked to a football game in the Irish Republic. There was no other shooting or violence of any kind at the time.
The man's family claim he was often harassed by soldiers when he had to pass through the checkpoint.

chronology: 'No I never did' Charlie Sheen is furious at allegations of misconduct.

Hollywood legend Charlie Sheen is livid with anger after being accused of misconduct on a Movie set 30 years ago.

He has already sued one man for making the same claim in 2017.

Even the teenagers family in the accusations don't believe the rumour flying around Hollywood at the moment. The lads sister joked about the accusations saying that they were BS. 'Charliie was more interested in me at the time' she quipped. Just for the record she declined Charlie's claimed advances.

Boy oh boy, folks love gossip about Hollywood folks. But in this case even the boys own family don't believe the tattle talk.

Zanjan: Shoes: " I don't get it ', what do they believe, that they're going to be locked in they're home without toilet paper?"

They believe they'll have Biblical Flood grade diarrhea. They don't' believe in environmental protection. People have tried to tell them to at least to rig up a corded sprayer to the water tap below the toilet - makeshift bidet. They're not listening to that either.

chronology: Gary Gilmore still heard.
The most famous advertising slogan of all time is 'Just do it' by Nike. But most people have no idea where it originated.

Reportedly an manager at Nike heard Gary Gilmore's last words were 'let' s do it '. He thought that was a catchy line and suggested it to a board meeting as the slogan for Nike.
Needless to say other managers at the company were distinctly uneasy at using an soon to be executed man's last words and rejected the sentence as their company slogan. But 'just do it' sounded just as good and allowed Nike to distance itself from the killer but keep a catchy slogan.

chronology: And Starbuck never even drank coffee.

Starbucks is named after the first mate in Moby Dick. But when the Moby Dick fans heard this they were up in arms. They pointed out that no where in Moby Dick did Starbuck drink a cup of Joe.

Personally I cannot remember ever reading in moby dick that Melville mentions tea or coffee. He may have mentioned tea in White Jacket. Drinking any hot drink at the time of Melville at sea would have been risky as sailors were constantly rocked by waves.

An odd twist to the Starbucks story is that Melvilles grandfather helped establish coffee as America's national drink. He was one of the masonic raiding party on British Tea ships in Boston that would be known as the Boston Tea Party.

Throughout the world in those days Tea was called 'The Demon Drink of the British Empire'. Americans promoted Coffee as an alternative. In Ireland patriots apposing Britain promoted beer drinking.

Zanjan: Speaking of which, I was in the store the other day at the checkout counter. I coughed. People looked at me funny and stepped back a bit. The cashier said, "Oh my, do you have a cold?" I replied, "No, it's asthma - your products seem to have collected a bit of dust".

Hey, this could be a useful thing to reduce line-ups.

chronology: This date in 44 BC the final preparations are made for the murder of Julius Caesar. Caesar had been awarded Honours and power's by the Senate that Republican Traditionalists feard would lead to the end of the Roman Republic and the return of the Monarchy.. Secret notes had been thrust into Caesar's hand as he walked through Rome in the previous week's warning him his life was in danger.

chronology: Dead, the world's most powerful man.

Juluis Caesar is stabbed to death as he walked into a Senate meeting. For the next 2000 years Actors, Artists, Sculptors and writers across Western Civilisation would recreate the dramatic last moments of Caesars life. Schoolteachers across America still hold discussions with student's about why Caesar died. It is almost as if Caesar died this week, not in 44BC.

American teachers probably describe how John Wilkes Booth saw himself as the Roman Assassins when he killed Abraham Lincoln. Many Southerners saw Lincoln the same way many Romans saw Caesar. They accused him of ignoring the constitution and acting like a tyrant. However 'Old Abe' was seen by most Americans as saving the Union, and Romans cared little that Caesar acted without the sanction of the Senate.

Caesars death began the new Imperial era of Rome. Ironically the very situation the conspirators tried to prevent was created with their murder of Caesar. His adopted son Augustus rallied support and with the Army put down the conspiracy to return Rome to it's former self of a constitutional Republic.

A point debated by modern scholars is why Caesar never took more precautions despite being warned he was in danger. He could have cancelled his Senate meeting, or surrounded himself with guards. He did nothing to avoid danger.

chronology: 40 years on and America is winning the war against AIDS.

For the vast majority of Americans the war against AIDS has been won. People now understand and can avoid the virus, it is no longer the feared illness of the 1980s.

But there are still marginalized groups in American society at high risk from the illness . Sex workers, drug addicts and people in Prison are at higher risk from the virus.

In Africa Authorities estimate the virus is still a major risk to the general population.

In some African countries Health Officials are bewildered by how the virus is spread. People do not have risky sex or use drugs. But somehow the virus has spread widely.

Seems evangelical supporters of Mr Trump are being told that the Coronavirus is a democrat conspiracy theory.

Some Tele evangelists are claiming to heal their followers via the TV screens.

Given the huge influence tele preachers have over their devoted following, much of which is elderly Americans most at risk from the virus. Seems many of these folks may be passing through the pearly gates sooner rather than later if they ignore public health advice and listen to their preachers advice.

chronology: Did Caesars murder end his life but save his reputation?

The assassination of Juluis Caesar may well have prevented him loosing his epic reputation in history.

Caesar was murdered just days before he would have set out on a major invasion plan against the Parthian Empire.
Legions for the invasion had been moved to Greece and were being trained for the battles with Parthia.

Rome had attempted to defeat Parthia before, but had to leave the district after unsuccessful battles and the loss of a general.

Caesar was just days from setting out for Parthia when he was murdered. He was 55 years old, so the campaign would have been exhausting.

In Rome Old Timers in politics had urged him to wait until Rome could solve the disputes that divided the City, but Caesar was determined to settle the old scores with Parthia once and for all.

It is possible that Senators suspected that he would use the public praise from a victory over Parthia to establish himself as king. Which gave them another reason to kill him.

Normally the little monkeys would be chowing down on tasty snacks given by tourists. Bu with people stopping travel the little critters are hungry as hell and have trotted into towns in their thousands to scrounge up some gritts.

Fights break out among the little Apes when one finds some food in a bin.

And to think they were living like Kings only a few weeks ago. Life can really suck.
