What do You think of islam? please all must write and contribute :) (Page 5)

Zanjan: Hornchurch.......as long as you continue to pick up gossip and hearsay instead of reading history as most of us do, you're going to look less educated with every word you post.

Christians are the worst offenders against other religions, next to atheists. Islamists aren't picky - they hate everybody, even Muslims because being a Muslim and being an Islamist aren't the same thing.

The DARK Ages affected Christianized Europe, not the Muslim world. They were not responsible for exploiting the earths resources and extermination of tribes and species.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.

ghostgeek: Some things need repeating. Jesus was nailed to the cross because he organised a protest against the Romans, not because he upset the Jews.

Zanjan: Ghost, you can repeat all you want but that wont change the record. The stories in scriptures were told before civilians knew what was going on. That's the way all new religions begin - obscure, even secretive. Those who did hear, thought they were just another sect and took them as a flash in the pan.

The Romans had everything under control during the life of Jesus, who had numerous Roman friends. There was no Jewish army to go against them so any supposed threat would be laughable. All the Jews had at the time was a puppet king they didn't like and a temple guard.

True, Jesus didn't upset the Jews - He upset the corrupt and scheming Jewish clergy.....these had the authority over religious matters only. The Romans, being pagans and didn't care what religion anybody was as long as they paid tribute to Caesar. Jesus advised that they should continue doing that.

Note that Pilate gave the choice to Jewish crowd, asking: which one do you want me to release - Jesus or Barabbas? They shouted "Barabbas". That means "Son of the Father".

The Jewish rebellion against the occupation didn't happen until long after Jesus had passed. They were smartly put down. There wasn't a Christian among them.

Now tell us what the deconstruction of the Jewish nation has to do with Islam.

ghostgeek: But Pilate undertook to bring a current of water to Jerusalem, and did it with the sacred money, and derived the origin of the stream from the distance of two hundred furlongs. However, the Jews were not pleased with what had been done about this water; and many ten thousands of the people got together, and made a clamour against him, and insisted that he should leave off that design. Some of them also used reproaches, and abused the man, as crowds of such people usually do. So he habited a great number of his soldiers in their habit, who carried daggers under their garments, and sent them to a place where they might surround them. So he bid the Jews himself go away; but, they boldly casting reproaches upon him, he gave the soldiers that signal which had been beforehand agreed on; who laid upon them much greater blows than Pilate had commanded them, and equally punished those that were tumultuous, and those that were not; nor did they spare them in the least: and since the people were unarmed, and were caught by men prepared for what they were about, there were a great number of them slain by this means, and others of them ran away wounded. And thus an end was put to this sedition.

[ Antiquities of the Jews, Book 18, chapter 3, section 2 ]

And guess what, right after we get:

Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.

[ Antiquities of the Jews, Book 18, chapter 3, section 3 ]

So what happened to someone in Roman times who fomented sedition? They got condemned to the cross, just like you-know-who. The logical conclusion is that Jesus was behind the protest over the water supply, was betrayed, tried and given his just desserts.

Zanjan: There are no dates, no named authors..........Antiquities of the Jews isn't a Holy Book.
Honestly, "if it be lawful to call him a man"??? Whoever wrote that, inserted his own opinion - historians are just supposed to report the facts, without bias, and name names of reporters (sources). So, no source for this gossip given.

That's worse than the Hadith (not a Holy Book), which at least mentions names, although it's all heresay and rubbish, written long after Muhammad had passed away.

According to the New Testament, while Jesus was alive, crowds of people listened to Him but very few became Christians. The Holy family and the Apostles were writing their history while living it. Who is the most credible source?

Zanjan: Apparently, you're confused. Jerusalem was first settled in 3,500 B.C. During its long history, it's been attacked 52 times, captured and recaptured 44 times, besieged 23 times, and destroyed twice.

David was the first to capture it for the Jewish nation. Why should it matter? It never stays in anyone's hands.

The Quran supports the story of Jesus and His birth in the Bible. Additionally, it says Jesus, as an infant, could talk. It also agrees that His crucifixion did occur.

Try to compare apples with apples - your sentence should have been 'who is correct, Jesus or Muhammad? Answer: Both are.

ghostgeek: Zanjan, let me get this straight, Joshua didn't do anything for the Jewish nation? Mmm ... so when, in Joshua 18, he hands Jerusalem to the tribe of Benjamin that wasn't anything to do with Jewish history according to the Bible. Well, let me ask you a question. To which people's history does Joshua belong if it's not to the Jewish nation?

ghostgeek: The Quran tells us that Jesus was born by the trunk of a palm-tree ( 19:22 ). So all those nativity scenes one sees outside churches, come Christmas time, are wrong? Have you told the Pope that what he believes about Jesus Christ is wrong? You should.

ghostgeek: The Quran also tells us that Jesus son of Mary wasn't crucified ( 4:157 ), though it was made to look as though he was. This is also something you should tell the Pope right away.

ghostgeek: So, Zanjan, what we have are a couple of texts, the New Testament and the Quran, that disagree with each other on two critical issues of faith and you want to say that both are correct? Please prove us all wrong when we think you're a little cuckoo by laying out your reasoning. Thank you.
